pano roof stuck at 4" open even w/using a tool
Sunroof is stuck; just makes the gear slipping sound when I operate the switch.
I was able to manually with a tool open the sunroof to about four inches. Any more than that and no amount of trying to help it seems to make any difference. The passenger side seems to be stuck.
If I can't open this I certainly can't lubricate the tracks.
The video from Mercedes showing how to remove the sunroof panel begins with: "open the roof fully." That's not happening.
I guess I could try again with an assistant pulling mightily on the passenger side, but before I go there I thought I'd ask if anyone has dealt with this and has suggestions?

Hence the threads about adding the washer to force the gear into position.

Unfortunately I dont' think that's my issue. in the comments of the thread there are documents on removing the roof and the likely failure causes.
Unfortunately, this doesn't look like an afternoon fix. Even if I can get the sunroof off and access the tracks, I think it's likely there is damage that will require ordering expensive parts (assuming they are even available). So I think I'll wait until Spring on this one.

Once you are successful, disconnect the motor and fuggetabout the sunroof.
Any further attemtps to open and you will regret it.
