Car Locking not working

Hi everyone,

Since one year i lost locking unlocking function in my car after tinting ( RF and IT are not working )

I’ve checked my key in the store and he confirmed that it’s sending signal and working fine, also I’ve checked the alarm siren and fuse #8 in the trunk both are ok

just today morning i pull out the antenna amplifier from the top of the rear glass to check it and it was kind of rusty at the solenoid joints, i cleaned it with contact cleaner and put it back.

assuming the antenna amplifier was blown off during the tint, will it also affect the IR ?

any idea what’s wrong in the vehicle ?

Congratulations, you fried the antenna. Common mistake when tinting the rear window.

You're probably looking at an antenna replacement.

🤦🏻🤦🏻

thanks for your response bro

but what’s the relation between the antenna and the IR sensor which it’s in the driver side ?

Will it requires to replace the whole glass with the antenna?

and is there any aftermarket antenna ?

The door IR sensor is a separate problem. Talking about the ones in the door handles. They are known to go bad (cold joints in the solder). Those can be either replaced or the solder reflowed if you have access to soldering equipment. See post. It's not terribly difficult. I fixed the problem for both sides.

A wrecker should have the antenna available. I think it's actually the amplifier that cooks. Then you have to reattach it to the glass. No idea how the glass will respond to a soldering pen, but a heat gun may work.

got it and has been fixed!

Luckily i got out the silicone using a regular kitchen knife ( be aware of injuries).

and i think I’ll go for an aftermarket antenna as for in UAE mostly all the vehicles are tinted with 50% and more so every time I’ve to replace the tint due to hot sun.

I appreciate your help slammer 👌

cheers
