Had the Sirius installation completed today. I love my dealer for going the extra mile and installing the antenna inside the vehicle. Took an extra hour or two of labor but it was worth it. They had to be extra careful in working around the motorized sun shade. Also, the fact that I don't have split seats made it a bit more difficult.

In any event, as I anticipated, works like a charm. I like classic alternative so, in that sense, I would have preferred MB to have offered XM (Lucy + Fred) instead of Sirius (First Wave). However, the integration alone was worth the price of admission. Moreover, I can drive my wife's new Yukon and get my occasional XM "fix."

All I'm missing now in terms of mods are integrating my 2003 MB V60 Motorola phone into my 2005 C230 K (The V60 cradle is on back order). (Actually, I'll probably wind up getting the C55 spoiler too; it's too cool to pass. ).

it looks like a futuristic ****roach crawling around your rear panel.

I've seen those exact antennas on some MB cars at the dealership but they place them on the rear trunk, just in front of the rear spoiler / third brake light.

Now those look really out of place.

it is installed at the dealerships. i suppose it could be installed at the factory. that black antenna you see in his back window is mounted on the trunk in the center from the factory/dealer. ill see if i can find some pics.

Presently, it's a "dealer-only" option. (I have been advised that beginning in early 2005, it will be available as a factory option).

It looks exactly like what you see here in my pictures except the same antenna you see in the picture would have been affixed to the trunk with a screw. The tech that was assigned to my car offered me to put the antenna behind the glass instead of drilling a hole on the trunk. It took him an extra hour or two to do so but it was worth avoiding drilling (which I was not going to allow anyway - I had ordered the Terk Mini and adapter just in case).

THe reception is flawless.

im going to get OEM Sirius put in my car. i need to replace my COMAND, but i want OEM SAT radio. get rid of that XM in my car. its hardwired to my Aux input but i would prefer OEM accessories.

What COMAND is necessary? I am getting mine installed in November, do I need to request something specific? I would love to ditch my add-on XM as well.

you need COMAND with the the SAT button. i have an 03 US Spec COMAND that has the blank button where the TV button would be on Euro COMAND. on 04 COMAND 2.0 the US Spec button is the SAT button. im selling my current COMAND to get the new one with the SAT button. make sure you get on with the SAT button.

though Saprissa did say that Euro COMAND can work with OEM Sirius. i have read anything regarding that though. id love to find out because id rather have Euro COMAND with SAT features, because i would also love to have the RDS and English accent.

Just out of curiousity, how are other people hooking up xm in their cars? I'd really like to go with XM over Sirrius.

i have XM hardwired into my Aux input of my COMAND. the unit is sitting in the ashtray. it required alot of dremeling but turned out pretty good. i just want ot stick with OEM stuff for the most part and would like the integration the MB Sirius provide by displaying info on the MFD and all.
