Yeah, I'll try to remember to check that too. But I'm pretty sure that at least the dash lights stay on. This is usually what I notice when I get in a car with the DRL's on, and this is during the day. I know this has at least been on a C240, and I think I have noticed it on a coupe too. It should be the same for both cars though.

Just went out and did a little test. Started the car in the garage. All the exterior and instrument lights came on. When I back out into the sunshine, all the lights went out, except the low beams which dimmed to the DRL intensity.

I didn't get a chance to test mine today, it wasn't even that sunny here today. But that makes sense what yours did. Mine all came on last night, but it was dark. I'm sure mine works the same way, so I'm not going to worry about it. I don't use DRL's and I don't plan on it because of my 100W low beams. I don't think I would want to have these on all the time.

As DRL's they would be operating at 65 watts, still brighter than stock at full power.

Coupe Bi-Xenon Part #'s?

Does anyone have the Coupe Bi-Xenon Part #'s?
I hate the look of the lenses, but I want Xenon and don't want to lose the warranty.

Yeah, but the horror stories I have heard about regular HIDs on these cars I think it might be worth the extra $'s. I'd also rather buy from a dealer who can't complain later I got them from a non authorized place...I would have been stuck with my defective climate control if I didn't give the dealer the extra $20 they wanted over Ebay.

It is almost certain that you will lose the warranty. Your car does not have the proper wiring harness for the bi-xenons.

Puppy is great, thank you. The dealer I had lined up to do the install will not do it. I cannot find an authorized dealer that will and I am worried about the warranty if I do it myself. Its come to the point where I will search again in the spring because we keep getting snow every week and I have no need for a stiffer ride.

I have your info and will let you know when I can get them installed.

Xenon equipped cars have a wiring harness to support the autoleveling feature of the headlights. Autoleveling is required by European regs.

The lighting portion is plug and play. The autoleveling, of course, is not. I doubt that you will find a dealer to install them, because the autoleveling is not there, and it is an integral part of the HID system. They could get themselves into serious liability problems if some one claimed your xenons blinded them causing an accident. Also, I have read that under Federal regulations it is illegal for dealers to retrofit HID's.

As long as it will work plug and play i'll be happy...as far as a dealer installing it...I don't really care, as long as I buy it from the dealer...

Assuming the lighting part is plug and play I doubt it would be a problem.

Assuming they were properly installed, they won't cause any problems. The stock H7 bulbs draw 55 watts of power, but the HID's only draw 35 watts, so the electrical system is under less stress with the HID's.

Question Bi-Xenon Lights

What is the cost to replace bulbs on Xenon type lighting compared to regular lights on C230 coupe?
I am about to order C230 with Bi-Xenon lights (now available) with evolution pkg/C-7.

I have seen prices ranging from $125 to $185 per bulb. They don't burn out. They only have to be replaced if they are damaged.

C230 Sport Coupe
Does anyone know how they work differently than regular lights?
The cost is high , $1420.00 canadian for the Bi-Xenon option which includes headlight washers ( byitself $450.00 canadian) which brings down the price to $970.00. This seems to be more than what Audi charges, $750.00 canadian on A4 1.8T/ or $850.00 on BMW 320i sedan.
Are the Bi-Xenon lights better than what Audi or BMW offer?

Yes the Mercedes system is better than the Audi. The mercedes is Bi-Xenon, meaning both your regular headlights and your high beams will be xenon bulbs. In the Audi, it is just a regular Xenon system without highbeam xenon bulbs.
