Does your dealer charge you for "tweaks", etc.?
If you get the dealer to change something like turning on the CHIRP sound for the alarm, or "activating" your CD changer after it has been installed elsewhere, do they charge you for the labor? I see where people have their dealer do these types of things, but I never see wether they were charged or not.
thanks

Unless you just bought the car and are in the process of taking delivery for it, absolutely, I'd charge you for it. I don't work for free! It takes me time to get the repair order from the dispatcher, go get the car key, find the car in the lot, bring the car in, hook up the computer to it, set it up to your vehicle, go into the appropriate area and activate the component, disconnect the computer, verify everything works, take the car to the car wash area, fill out the paperwork, and bring the paperwork to the service advisor. That's a good amount of time I spent, and I'm getting paid for it, you betcha! An hour of labor is reasonable.

I'm not the only person that would charge labor for it, believe me.

Yes still in seatbelt hell. They are working on it. And keep on giving me e-classes as loaners, though I keep on trying for a SLK.

Beth, I thought you made lemonade out of that car by now. You know that if the problem is safety related you don't have to wait for 4 times to make your claim.
My dealer charges 3 tenths of an hour minimum. I think they would change the settings for 1/2 hour labor. The trick is to tie it in with a warranttee repair that way the car is already on the rack and they won't charge you for paperwork/find keys/other stuff labor. One good one I've heard on this forum is tell them the car pulls to the right. If not drive around with your gascap off and bring it in for the check engine light. The worst you'll get is your alignment and tire pressure checked and a loaner.
Ideally they would let me borrow the laptop and do it myself.

I'm having fun thinking about picking up a new car in Germany though. Hooray for FF miles.

Do they let 19-year-old Vietnamese girls drink alcohol over in Europe? You might get stuck with "sparkling grape juice", missy. :p

for some things, i wasn't charged. like the speed sensitive volume thing. the salesguy said i could get it adjusted later, and that's what i told the service guy.
for the fuel settings and stage thing, i was charge 1/2 hour labor. like $30.
when i got it reset back to normal, they did it for free.
i think it depends on the dealership.
