I'm pretty happy with it (except for the trunk button rattle problem, which is fixable, see recent thread), but admittedly never heard the stock audio system.
I am actually finding the 6-CD changer to be more useful than I thought.

Some people here have also complained (including me) that the front dash speakers tends to have a mind of its own - meaning it produces static sounds even when playing CDs, (mine went away after restarting the engine). But some have to go to the dealer to have it fixed.
That said, after fixing all the rattle problems that i had (for now), I really like the sound quality of my HK package.

I'm not a audio expert but when I crank up the volume all the way up on mine , there is no noticeable distortion and nothing rattles in mine
The surround part doesn't really make that much of a difference in my car. With it off, it sounds like a normal car with the crossover switching the voices to the front speakers only, and with Surround ON, it sounds like they're pumping the voices into all speakers. Even though it does sound nice, it sounds totally opposite of what the surround does on my Bose system in my home theater.
You're also lucky that nobody told you to UTFS ("Use The F**g Search" button). I got a similar reply when I asked the same question as you did, a month ago
Those guys must be mellowing out, thank God !All in all, I think it's a good choice. I hope you enjoy yours also.

Help the thread with a useful opinion or go away and let us that have the 2005 H/K system give this person an honest opinion, not just posting useless posts.
