removing snow from car without scratching?

does anybody have suggestions on how best to remove snow from the car (other than using your sleeve)? i feel like the hard plastic bristles found ont the ordinary snow brush will leave little surface scratches on the paint.

Clean the windows, then hop onto the freeway. Almost like everyone else, who just clean a small porthole and do the same thing.

Before winter comes apply a long lasting protectant/wax. Thus the brush will never contact your paint, only the wax, and snow will glide off smoothly.

If you do get scratches, they will be very small and easily polished out or even covered with a good scratch/swirl remover wax.

No Brushes!

I would never dare touch my car with anything calling itself a brush. Ever.

Use a blow dryer!

not really taylor. Those stiff bristles will "pierce" through your wax coating almost instantly... I just try and brush most of it off without touching the paint, let the little amount left blow off on the highway.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think I'll try a little of all of the above.

Taylor, do you suggest a particular brand of wax for winterizing? And anybody try that SnoBrum?

Yeah seriously, what do you think wax is? Some kind of impenetrable shield?

Wax is for preventing things like bird poop from bonding directly to your paint. A layer of wax will not stop solid objects like brush bristles!!!! Wax is soft, and can be scratched, rubbed, melted, or dissolved away.

when the snow is light and fluffy, i whip out the leaf blower or i just use my hands with gloves. when it's heavier, i just a clean off the windows and i use the snow thing with the bristles lightly so i'm now touchin the paint but it just touchin the snow.

I've had excellent results with Zymol....others like the polymers...but carnuba holds up to salt/sand very well in the winter

if it's not really much snow on the painted areas, i'd just leave them be and clean off the windows/viewing areas. Let the wind blow off the rest and heat from the engine above the hood melt off the rest.

if it's a lot, i usually just brush off as much as i can without touching the paint.
