"sheeting" Waxes

i remember going to car shows over 10 years ago where i saw demonstrations of car wax with a "sheeting" action- where the water just runs straight off it instead of beading up and causing waterspots. does anyone know if this stuff is still around?

most good wax's ( Meguiers, Zainos etc) will all pretty much sheet the water off.
I use Meguiers Gold Class wax , and their polish too. Wash it good, 2 coats of polish, 1 coat wax, 1 polish 2 wax. so all in all i have 3 coats of polish and 3 coats of wax.

It's all in the presentation. Magic, smoke and mirrors my friend. If you spray your freshly waxed car with a garden hose it will bead up into millions of tiny beads. If you take the sprayer off the hose and sheet the water on, it will sheet off. I laugh when I see those commercials. The best is the ones where they set the hood on fire or shine a laser beam on it or shovel sand on the car. From the 3-4' away the camera is you won't see the real damage.

I use the best stuff and you can't find it at Pep Boys or As Seen on TV. All waxes pretty much work the same. Some give a little more shine than others but the difference in quality is how long those the stuff stay on. Some so-called high quality waxes stay on for 2-3 weeks. Also cheap waxes leave too much residue on the car and creates a ton of dust. To me Meguires is one of the worst I've used. The best wax/cleaner I've used that lasts 2-3 months is Klasse All-In-One followed by Klasse Glaze. Now a wax really won't make your car much shinier than it already is. To do that you have to buff off oxidation, swirls and ground in stains. Although given enough time and energy you can do that by hand it's best to use a high speed buffer/sander with a foam buffing pad and a high quality, oil based clay polishing compound.

I like zanio polish, it last longer than wax, and is very easy to apply and remove, it is more expensive, but maybe that is why it works. here is a link http://www.zainobros.com

One word --

Zaino

No machine buffing allowed with Zaino (why waste it)

Machine buffing is for polish not for wax. Wax should always be applied by hand, polish should be applied by machine, unless you have all day. Zaino and Klasse are synthetic waxes and that's why they last longer than the real stuff.

The point I did not make too well was that Zaino tells you not to use machines as one will use too much product with machines and that would lead to improper application - they repeatedly instruct you to use only a little of the product at a time.

I use Sonax liquid hard wax, which has been the winner in every wax test i've read so far. Maybe Zaino is even better, I don't know, their products are not sold where I live, neither are meguiers or Klasse. The only american wax sold here is Zymöl, wich not performed good in any of the wax tests I've read. Try Sonax and be satisfied!
