There is a TSB (not to be confused with a recall) for the sidemarkers. I assume they simply replace the wiring with a thicker gauge. The dealer might even sell a kit for DIY.

Use a soldered joint to have a low drop voltage connection then use your liquid tape or engine RTV for waterproofing - See what range of temp rating it has when cured.

Having fixed that, you'll want to waterproof as many other exposed connectors you can.
