Thermotronic???

Im wondering why my THERMOTRONIC a/c system allows "outside ODORS" to enter the car, if i switch on the charcoal filter, airflow is minimized, but the odor is not totally eliminated. Isnt it supposed 2be that our a/c system will not allow any odors to enter the cabin? Recirculation mode stops all odors, but it automatically returns to fresh air mode after a few minutes.

cut down on your bean intake

maybe some of the odours are originating inside the car

THERMOTRONIC

It's the climate control with the digital readout, optional on most N. American model Cs.

The lowest level climate control available in N. America is THERMATIC, which is also optional in Europe (or at least was, up to the 2003 m.y.)

Use the button that closes off outside air when following a Turbo-Stink etc, if you have THERMATIC. THERMATIC does not filter out stink.

Apparently, from BruNo's testimonial, neither does THERMOTRONIC (though I'm still not sure about the origin of the smells in his car .

Same here: C 230 K, Magma Red (a standard paint in Canada), no options other than Panorama roof and rain sensor wipers. Cheap is good

We're still waiting for the car - expected in about a week (I hope).

i would think that the filter is supposed to catch suspended particulates rather than smells...

Its a charcoal filter - it should get out most organic vapor type smells.

But I've been told by my dealer to use it sparingly - e.g. use it when you need it, don't leave it "on" all the time - because it eventually wears out and costs quite a bit ($200?) to replace (not under warranty)

maybe MB is just fooling us with these "hi-tech" thermatic, thermotronic stuff...............my A class b4 does not allow any smell to enter the car.....none at all! and it only has the simple 3knob Honda Accord type a/c switches.....so i guess, its just normal to smell "things" inside, irregardless of origin. Besides, compared to Corollas a/c, my thermotronic is no match for cooling effiency............in short.....its hotter! ...its No Good.

In the US, thermotronic is standard with the digital climate control system on C320 and up. I'm pretty sure it's not available as an option on the C240. But you guys can get the 6-spd. if you want.

It filters only particulate matter, not odors. I know this because I was following an Orion Blue C230 the other day... The driver was eating Chalupas while driving, and his Pana roof was open...

Quick, where's that microfilter button?
