I cannot figure out why the scanners ive plugged into the ODB2 port only can establish communication between the scanner and the ODB2 port, but not between the ODB2 port and the vehicle. (2007 C230) And Yes, fuse #62 in the front sam is working fine and providing power to pin #16 on X11/14, (the odb2 port) in fact, I replaced the front sam thinking it might be the issue but it didnt seem to fix anything. I have +12v on pin 16 on the odb2 port, i have continuity on pins 6&14 on the ODB2 port to pins 3&4 on connector A on the EIS. What I cant figure out is how to read the attached wiring diagram. I know DI is my EIS connector A, and 62 is my power, but have no idea what ME-SFI (pin 7 on ODB2 port or DTC (pin 12 on ODB port) go to. Is the verticle box on the right side of the diagram referring to the ECU? Could a bad ECU be causing my problem? When I got this car the owner had lost the key and it sat for 4 years, the new owner tried to get it to run by cutting the wires off the A, B and C connector of the EIS and touching them to make the car start. From speaking to the first owner that lost the key, she said it ran fine when she parked it, but that was 4 years ago, and the owner after her had it sitting for the last 2 before I acquired the car. I ordered a new key from mercedes but the second owner had destroyed the EIS so I had that one cloned to another EIS and I rewired it back into the car. The car (surprisingly) started right up and runs fine, however, the transmission will go into any gear and will reflect that on both the shifter bezel as well as the dashboard but the car will not move at all in forward or reverse. I need to scan this vehicle to see whats going on but cant get the ODB2 port working correctly. (ive tried a $3,000 snap on scanner, a OTC scanner and a bluetooth/iphone scanner. None work. Any suggestions?

Hi, this is king of late but just saw your post and it reminded me that my MB dealer scanner could not connect to ECU
It took him 1 hour and had to go through all the fuses. Finally found the one defective then all ok
