2002 C230 left tail light error issue

Hello all,
My 2002 C230 has a left tail light error issue, whereas no matter what I do it keeps switching to the alternate light which happens to be
the break light. I replaced the bulbs on both side, and tried swapping the entire bulb holder as well as the pigtail connector from one side to the other
and still, left tail light out malfunction.
Now this all started I had a bunch of rear lighting errors, replaced some bulbs and for a short time, (very short)
NO MALFUNTION was showing and all the lights worked! Don't ya just love it when the car says that?
It just drives me nuts when I start the car and 1st thing that pops up is MALFUNTION!!
Grrrrr!
So I'm wondering, the bulbs I'm using are from NAPA , it was kind of a PIA to get the cross reference from P21 W/32
which is the number shown in the manual but doesn't appear to be available anywhere.
But then the owners manual was not even correct about which bulbs go where.
I have P21 /4W in my notes somewhere and those I can find on Ebay.
This is the last bulbs at the bottom with 2 filaments and the only one with 2 filaments.
I'm wondering perhaps if I get the 100% OEM bulbs would that make a difference? So, what bulbs should I be using ????

So I got the MB part number 07260101221065
and thanks so much to my guy at the dealership
who pulled it from the bin and got this number,
P21 5/W dual filament. When I look that up I find OSRAM with the part number 7528
We'll see what happens!!!

Ok,so 21/5w is the wrong bulb. 21/4w is correct.
Bases are different and 21/5 won't do in.
So, no idea whats causing the issue.
Already swapped bulb holders and pigtail connectors but issue stays on
left side. Could it be something in the SAM?
Where to look?

Still having this problem. Bulbs swapped, swapped bulb holders side to side and wiring dongles in fender, STILL on left side
What gives?

Add resistors to the required circuits. This can be done at the harness. Go to an electronics shop and buy some 2W resistors, then start playing with the values. Personally I'd start at 180 ohms (this will draw ~1W when your car is running) and go from there.

Pigtails have resistors in them. In fact years ago, one fried and I replaced it.
But swapped that whole things side to side and same result.
