You should have asked them to start up the car with NO muffler on it at all...It may already be rather quiet after passing thru the cat.
Get some headers, dual freeflowing cats, and run dualies all the way back!!! The sound will be incredible! Make sure you add an equalizer pipe somewhere after the cats. You'll probably gain some top end HP as well
I have dual supertrapps on my Harley, but I run them with all the discs removed...it gives the bike a deep, mellow burble at idle, not harsh like straight pipes- but under full throttle, they bark. I think the resonators eliminate the rasp, harsh sounds.

C32 AMG
I guess it only sounds good in C32s (full AMG exhaust system). Go for the Eisenmann unit, it probably will sound great. I don't know what else to tell you....

The only important thing is performance! If your engine has what it takes your muffler to growl you'll feel it inside. I do! You don't whant a lot of noise like those kids with their Honda Civics and their 4 1/2 inch Stainless Steel muffler pipes and they are BARELY MOVING!

some cars come with two resonance chambers. if u only got the very end piece with the amg tips...then u may have missed out removing the resonator sitting below the rear passengers (from the cat back). this one may be keeping ur car mute. if u'd like....go a well-respected shop and have the mandrel bend u a whole exhaust, either catback or header back (if u don't mind not passing the smog checks and the fee, although i believe in ca u pay the fine once and u don't ever have to do smogs anymore, oh well), and keep the amg tips for the looks. this should be slightly louder than what u have now. please don't get some stupid loud baffling stuff...that's just ricey and may actually rob u some power...
our c36 sounds just loud enuf...but may also be because the engine got bored from 2.8L to 3.6L. the supercharger shouldn't affect the sound like a turbocharger does, may add some whining (like kenny brown panther supercharged models)...a turbocharger by design mutes the exhaust note.
