Mercedes W203 rear seat back removal. HELP PLS!

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out for some advice on how to remove the rear seats from my Mercedes W203. I've been trying to figure it out, but I'm a bit stuck and would really appreciate any guidance or tips from those who have done this before or are familiar with the process.

I have a 2004 Mercedes W203, and while I've managed some basic maintenance tasks on my own, this one has me puzzled. If it helps, I can describe or provide specific details about my model. To assist, I've attached some photos of the rear seat setup in my vehicle. I hope these images provide a clearer idea of what I'm working with.

Thank you in advance for your help!

The video I linked above covers the basic process. There may be other videos on YouTube that provide more detail.

It looks like you are finding removing the seat bottom a barrier. The grey plastic trim pieces in front of the seat bottom (you circled one of them in your photos) cover bolts. You need to pry the plastic off to expose the bolts. The plastic is likely to be brittle due to age. I recommend that you pry carefully to avoid damaging them.

Good luck.

Thanks for your reply.
I've tried to remove those 4 plastic covers but it was not possible for me.

Do you know how should I remove them?

I would be very grateful for such information.

I used a plastic trim removal tool to pry them off. I did break one of the covers, and I replaced it with one from a wreck. I forget whether prying from the top, side or bottom was better.

You can find these at most auto parts stores or from online sellers.

Here's another video that may help you later on in the process:

They will break when being removed / the inner clips broke even when relatively new. Just take a small pocket screw driver and pop them off from the side. You’ll most likely need to buy new ones.

The plastic pieces are pried from the top or bottom. I agree with the others that the plastic gets brittle, and you'll probably break a tab. The good news is that the dealer does carry replacement pieces for a few bucks. Also I imagine they are now made of a less brittle grade of plastic now, the same way they've upgraded the front seat trim pieces.

If you break a tab, they can be glued back into place. Nobody will be able to tell the difference, as the tabs are buried underneath. Remove/break your 1st cover and you'll understand.

That would be nice if they changed the material…these should have never been the ABS/PC blend and should be more PP if you ask me.

Honestly, they just pop off.

The PN should be molded inside - and I may have added the PN here:
