A week ago, I got a warning on my dash saying low coolant, which I then refilled the reservoir. My garage had a little coolant on the floor, but I thought that I had just spilled some out when refilling. The day after, a gallon of coolant on the floor greeted me when I went to drive my car. Letting the car dry out for two days, I went under the car and found that the plastic undertray under the engine was all wet and there was coolant dripping all over. The pulleys and belt were soaked and dripping with coolant which dripped down to the crossbar and down. I wasn't able to find the source, but I suspect it must be the coolant pump. Is there any way to confirm my theory without removing the front end of the car? Here are some pics of under the car and the pulleys which were soaked. Is it better for a shop to take care of this, or is it easy enough for an amateur? Thanks in advance! Btw the car is a 2002 C230K Sportcoupe with the M111K and 6-speed manny.
I read somewhere on the forum that the coolant pump is connected to the fan. Is this true?
And if so, should the fan turn on on startup? Because it doesn't turn on then.
