Removing Emblems

Hello,

I am thinking about taking the C320 emblems off. Anyone done this & how to do it. One thing that's on my mind is if it will have a darker area that will still have C320 even after the emblems removed from sun fade? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'll be more charitable - the BEST (not the easiest) way to do it is to take some dental floss, remove the letters/numbers, then the fun starts - just rub the remaining glue with your fingers until it comes off. Others have used liquids to do it, but I think that's too risky with the inferior quality of MB paints.

And some people have waxed the area immediately afterwards, though I blew that off.

dental floss or fishing line does the trick, try to do it when the surface is warm from sunlight, glue simply rolls off with your fingers....

I like the look....

I recently did this to my 2-year old car. No sun fade at all but I live in the frozen north and the car is garaged during the day.

Thanks for the tips. I will try it tomorrow. It's getting cooler here so maybe I will use a hair dryer to warm it up. Will I have to use a lot of force to pry the emblems off with dental floss?
I think it will make the rear end appear a little larger without the emblems because I personally feel the C has too skinny of an ***. I think the car should have been an inch or to wider and shorter, well that's for a different post.

a hair dryer will work nicely. i wouldnt warm them up too much, otherwise the adhesive will become too gooey, and will make a mess. it will stick to the paint rather than coming off nicely. it doesnt take too much force for them to come off. i used dental floss for the C230 and 1.8 emblems on my car. for kompressor i started with the dental floss, finished with a credit card. i found it made it easier with the credit card. there is that small gap between the badges and the paint where a credit card will fit nicely. you will more than like have to use your finger nails to pull them out a bit so the depth of the card will squeeze between the badges and paint. then you pretty much pop each one off. not hard at all. my barely left any residue and for the ones that did, 1.8 badge mostly, i used a clay bar to remove the remaining residue. you can buy a clay bar at pep boys, kragen, auto zone, etc.

For the glue residue you could also try goo off, the kind that is the "citrus" smell. I've used it on other cars that I'ved debadged and it works perfect and doesn't harm the paint
Afterwards just put a coat of wax over the area for reassurance

This is the easiest mod (sort of speak) that you can do on your car. You really don't need to take it to the extreme of getting a hair dryer, sunlight etc... Those may help but that's not the route I took. Here is what I did, I went to Walmart, bought me a fishing line for 99 cents. Then went up and down behind the letters and then they came off. Then I just went to auto zone and got 3M adhesive remover. With the 3M stuff it took the residue so easily. Then waxed it and was done. Its really easy. Good luck

Thanks for your help everyone. I took the emblems off yesterday with a hair dryer & dental floss. The emblems came off easy the glue on the hand wore my fingers down. It looks good though without the emblems, only a couple surface scratches that I will be the only one that will notice. I polished the area about 5 times. It has so much of a cleaner look now. Thanks again, have a good one.

Speaking of emblems, i was at a local Brabus dealer and saw that they were selling the BRABUS rear emblem for $125.00.... REALLY????? THAT MUCH FOR AN EMBLEM? Don't you guys think that's ridiculous price?

Yes ! Yes ! & Yes !
even the AMG badge goes for $70+ at the dealer.
If you get a full BRABUS kit, wheels, and engine upgrade though, the $125 will seem like chump change.

Why do you have scratches? From the floss or removing the glue? Mine came off without a blemish.

I would say the scratches are more due to using my fingernail to get the glue off. I only hand wash my car and there are surface scratches from the towels and I just think it is un-avoidable. If you have a black car they are more noticable. These are light scratches that only you will see when detailing your car. Nobody else will notice. I guess they are clear coat scratches.
I ordered my clear side marker lenses. We'll see how that goes.

Hairdryer and a strong fingernail. Begin pulling each letter from the top, and blow hot air down on the adhesive. Pulls right off. No credit card needed.

When it was all done, I could see light residue from where the lettering was, but a wash and Klasse was all it needed.

Guy's im telling you, some of you are torturing your finger nails way too much. Just remove the letters with a fishing line or dental floss and then get either a 3M adhesive remover or googone from an auto parts place and its comes off so easy. No need for a hair dryer, finger nails, credit cards, sun light, ect....... Its that simple, and make sure you wax that area when you are done.
