If I were to guess, your gear selector module is acting up. I think it's caused by cold joints in the PCB. There is some mention of it in the forum but it's not a super common issue.


Some people find it easier to just replace the entire module, but I imagine that removing and baking the PCB should reflow all the solder as needed.

If you feel like replacing the entire unit (wrecker or online would probably be cheaper than the dealer), I would contact the dealer first with your VIN to find the latest compatible version for your car.

Since it sounds like the button is the issue, one thing you can also try is simply reflowing the joints in the circuit connected to the button. This way you don't have to bake the entire PCB.

I would also check the button assembly to make sure the spring isn't stuck etc.
