Rear sunshade

Has anyone else had a problem with thier sunshade working inconsistantly. Not that I use mine a whole lot but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. Also does the car have to be running for the shade to work or can just the key be turned on? Thanks gang, have a great weekend.

I have had issues with my sunshade but I think it's mostly user error. I used to just push the switch and let go really quickly and nothing would happen.. i found that you have to push the switch and hold for a like a sec for the shade to go up....

what sort of probs are you having?

Yes,

I have had that problem, the dealership fixed it. Tommy has had the problem too. TRry searching on "tommy" in the name field and "shade" in the ey word field.

Beth, I think they're talking about the rear window sunshade on the sedans, not the sunroof shades on the coupe.

Thanks for your replies. My rear sunshade sometimes does not go up. Maybe your right Fuzzo, I may not be holding the button down long enough. I'll give it a try.

My salesman mentioned the rear shade button being "directional" or something like that when going over the vehicle's features. He quickly pushed the button twice each time to make the shade go up or down. I never really think about it, but it seems to work with 1 push most of the time.

I only have to press the button all the way down and then release. I do not have to hold.

To add some further confusion here, I have had my rear sunshade work perfectly weel just by tapping the button for a brief second. However, in the past few weeks, I have needed to hold the button for a extended period of time to activate the up/down motion. Weird.... Now that I read others are having the same problem, it makes me wonder if there is a design flaw or something in the Mercedes rear sunshade motor units.

I don't recall my shade ever working with just a tap.... i usually have to hold it till the shade starts going up or down and then let go... it's takes a quick sec rather than a tap...

I also don't use it at all after I had my windows tinted...

Good idea... It would probably scratch the tint as the sunshade it self has two rubber points that glide against the rear window.

nothing wrong with my rear sunshade...just one tap and up it goes...good thing it has the one-touch function, unlike my sister's CLK320 i have to hold it to make sure that it goes all the way up.
