my warranty ran out on the last day of october, and this morning my battery was dead. does anyone know if i can just go to the MB parts dept. and buy a new battery and bolt it in, without encountering some kind of stupid eletrical problem? I dont feel like droping my car off and waiting to pick it up till 6pm for a stupid battery. any help? thanks

Call roadside assistance. They'll come and replace the battery for the cost of the battery, no installation fees or anything (well, a tip!), and they should also reset what needs to be reset. This is what they did for my dad. He first went to the dealer and they said "What the hell are you doing here? If we do it, we have to charge you! Go home and call roadside assistance!"

Do you mean Mercedes Benz Roadside assistance?
Thanks

My battery just died 1 month after the warranty expired.
How much was the cost of the battery when Roadside Assistance replaced it? If the battery costs over $200, I may buy a battery and replace it myself.
Thanks

I think the battery is $125, if I remember correctly when they replaced it in my C220.
There's also a warranty on the battery. If it dies within the first year, you get a replacement, 2 years, you pay 25% for a new one, 3rd year, you pay 50% of a new one and 4th year, you pay full price again.

mine also died 1 month out of warranty (not over milege but time). roadside came in 15 min. battery cost was $125. they even take credit cards.
Thanks to everyone for responding.
I had Roadside replace my battery. They arrived at my place in San Francisco 30 min after I called and replaced the battery and reset my windows. The battery comes with a 2 year warranty.
They charged me $118 plus I tipped the guy. Excellent service, but I'm a little annoyed my battery died 1 month after my warranty expired. $118 does sound expensive, but at least they come out to you to do the work.
I watched the serv tech change the battery, and it would've taken me at least 2 hours to change it because I don't have all the tools.
