Valet key doesn't open lock and main battery dead
Hello Folks,
I have a 2007 C230, and the battery is dead for some reason. The key fob battery is OK (tried both fobs).
The valet key turns only less than a quarter turn in door lock. It works fine in the trunk lock, but there is no folding seats, so...
I am thinking of applying a trickle charge via the fuse box in the trunk. Just enough to operate the door lock, and afterwards the main battery can be properly charged.
I'd appreciate any thoughts, comments, or advise.

Try pulling back the driver side fender liner and pulling on the hood release cable to pop open the hood. It runs along the top of the wheel arch.
Applying a charge, even a small one to the rear SAM may damage it.

I couldn't tell you for sure - it should work as it sits on a main power bus, but the SAMs can be delicate and a real pain to replace if you have to. If you don't get one off of a car equipped EXACTLY like yours, you will need someone with STAR to program it or you may lose options or cause weird errors to crop up.
If your battery doesn't charge though - I'd recommend going to the dealer and getting a factory Mercedes battery. It's one of the few things the dealerships don't scr*w you on. I did mine last year and I believe it was $230.
