Will there be a third sunroof recall?
I received a text message from Consumer Reports notifying me that there was a recall of my C230. However, when I accessed the NHTSA website and entered my VIN, the site showed I had no open recalls. I searched some more and found the recall report. I have attached a copy of the report and pasted an excerpt below. I've already visited the dealership twice for previous sunroof recalls. I'm speculating, but it appears that the previous recalls didn't completely resolve the issue. Either Mercedes or NHTSA decided that Mercedes needed to make an additional check. I'm hoping that the lack of a match with a recall on the NHTSA website indicates that the previous checks have ruled out a problem with my car.
Problem Description: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2001-2011 C-Class, CLK, E-Class, and CLS vehicles. Please see the recall report for a complete list of models and model years. The glass sunroof panel may not be properly secured and can detach. Consequence: A detached sunroof panel can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the sunroof panel as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 18, 2025. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. This recall is an expansion of previous NHTSA recall number 22V-954.

I hope they dont start mailing me crap about that one too...I get the stupid airbag recall letters weekly. Put them all in the trash....it is my "junker car"...if it blows up, so be it.
