The puddle lights were an option for 211 E classes but I believe they have been removed now for cost cutting reasons. You cannot add puddle lights like w211 under the mirror unless you replace the entire mirror frame and housing. I have w211 mirrors in my car at the moment. The lights will NOT WORK. Most sedans have the puddle light under the door itself when you open it. YOu CANNOT WIRE THEM TOGETHER. The load is too much for the door control module and it will not work at all. You can have either mirror puddle lights or door puddle lights but NOT both. YOu can wire them together and use LED bulbs but this is totally USELESS. They are not bright enough and good as having a burned bulb. I believe coupes don't have the puddle lights under the door but you can add these.

Dr. Sunman,
please let us know the Part #'s involved with the 2004.5 ambient light capable rear-view mirror. Is there any other wiring harness or power source required, or is just plug & play ? Part #'s if not, please.

- How do you remove the rear-view mirror?
- What work is involved in getting the new mirror to power up on 2001-2004 models ?

Thanks.

Carlos

Still wondering why people would want those mirrors, you can barely see the light without looking for it. Its like head light washers, you only may use them once in your life. Make more of a mess then anything. haha

Ive got an extra LED light from formymercedes.com, I'm going to try tapping power from the home link via a scotchlock. Does the mirror just pop off, or is it glued on like some GM ****?

It is a compression fitting and a ***** to get back on. I had mine off over the weekend investigating that possibility of adding a amber LED. Let me know how this turns out for you.
