I recently had my windscreen form large cracks that resulted in the screen being replaced. I was in the country and I took it to the local windscreen franchise and they fitted a replacement screen. Problem is. now I can't use the auto light function or the auto windscreen wipers either. I asked if they had set the screen up in the ECU and they said that they had but I'm not so sure. I have checked all the fuses that seem to relate to the screen and also checked the wiring in the overhead light console. What do you guys think? Did they not set it up in the ECU or is there likely to be some other problem?

I did query the part they said that was the part to fit my car but not the OEM. I am going to visit my Mercedes guy soon to get it checked out. I did have a look at the sensor and it looks like they transferred the original so Im thinking that the sensor may be kaput.

The sensor for the wipers used to be a gel liquid applied to the sensor, wait a minute or two and then press it against the glass. The new ones are simply a gel sticker. I’d buy a new sticker off eBay or Amazon, they’re inexpensive.
Give the sticker to the windscreen tech when you drop it off.

Thanks for all replies. The problem was solved. I took the car back to the windscreen installers and asked them to check their installation in particular their electrical installation. They discovered that the plug had been misaligned and bent the pins over inside the plug basically meaning no connection. They straightened the pins and reconnected the plug, no more warning. Fixed!
