W203 (2005) C-Class Steering Wheel Lock
My first post here and by way of introducing myself, thought I'd start off by requesting a bit of help if it's out there.
In past two weeks, I've noticed the car will set the steering lock each time I turn the key to the off position, which it hasn't done previously.
It can be a bit of a fight with the steering wheel to unlock and then be able to turn the ignition on to start the car.
After researching online - watching plenty of YouTube videos (mostly W204s, BTW!), I'm making an appeal here for any help possible on my W203 steering lock.
A couple small steps forward; I've opted to invest in an Emulator as am not interested in retaining the steering lock /issue that comes with it. But, after removing the parcel tray cover, I can't see how to get at/remove the steering lock mechanism. And unlike numerous YouTube videos showing how to unbolt 4 x torq bolts to loosen the steering column and drop the steering bolt mechanism in the W204's, I've not found similar content or YouTube videos for the W203 steering lock. In fact, I've found zilch... nada, for showing or describing how to remove the steering lock mechanism for the W203 /my car.
I'm attaching a photo of the steering lock in situ, but how to get it off the column, I'm stumped.
If anyone could show or write up how to remove the beast, I'd me mightily grateful.
BTW, the car has its moments, but fingers crossed the car doesn't get stuck with the bolt in the locked position. I feel I'm now on borrowed time.
Thanks for any help, wise words of wisdom...
