Windshield Wipers

I've read on this forum that OEM wiper blades are noisy... oh well, I can live with that. I'm experiencing a shudder as the driver side wiper reaches the end of it's sweep and begins to move in the other direction. The blade jumps of the windshield a few time before settling down. What should I do to remedy this problem?

Thank You,
Mark

Try to clean the windshield with alcohol for a start. This should remove at least some deposits that may prompt chatter. How old are the blades?

The car is an 02 with 17k on the clock. Since the car is a CPO, are blades covered?

Thanks Again!

I suppose they should be covered. I would suggest upgrading to "Aero" wipers ('2005 style). They seem to wipe better than the "old" style wipers.

If you decide to upgrade using OEM parts, you will need new style wiper arms + blades.
As an alternative to OEM you can purchase blades similar to Aero, from Tirerack.com (search for "Valeo" wipers). This way you can use the original arms.

As a matter of fact, if you do decide to upgrade, you can only purchase the blades from Tirerack.com (search for "Valeo" wipers), as '2005 wiper arms are quite pricey (to go OEM, you would need new style wiper arms + blades).

Thanks Vadim, I'll check it out
