Going to 1000-3000 checkup... Any suggestions???

Hey everyone,

I'm going in tomorrow for my 1000-3000 mile initial checkup and well I was just wondering if there was anything that I should have the service people check.

I know for one, I need them to check the electrical seal rings for the transmission fluid. I also need them to tweak the way my back right side passenger door closes because it doesn't close normal like the other 3 doors. You actually have to slam it shut for it to close.

Anything else I should have the look at/replace? Any suggestions please

My friend's '05 c320wz got a door like that too. The dealer worked on it for a day but they failed to fix it. My friend didn't protest too much. I hope you'll have better luck.

Does everyone in So Cal get a 1000-3000 mile check up? Because when I called MB here in Detroit they told me that my car doesnt have those. By the way it was the West Bloomfield Dealership .

Its a customer service gimmick. The car doesn't need to be touched until 10K. Unless of course, you can close your door

I dont know what they can possibly do at the first 3000 miles. Have them change the oil since you broken it in. thats about it.

That policy is clearly stated on page 15 of the Maintenance Booklet.

Well, since there's no free lunch(service) on the 05's , they want to get you in the habit of coming in. Like I said, its a GIMMICK.

That's just on the '05s, right? C230\PV appears to have a 2004.5.

My wife's 2004.5 had this free first check service, and she took it in, and that's when they replaced the transmission seal and checked it before any problems even arose.

It might be a gimmick, and the 2004.5 still has the 4-year maintenance plan included, but it doesn't hurt to bring the car in after initial break-in and have a once around look over. She got a ML350 loaner for the day, and now doesn't have to worry about that transmission fluid leak everyone is complaining about.

I just noticed that that service was just for the 2005. And i did call the service center to schedual a oil change for my 3000 mile break in, and they told me that my car doesn't have that service. Eh, I'll just wait till 10,000.

Yeah I took my car in for the first 1000 mile check up. All they do is what they call a " safety check" and make sure your fluids are topped off. Nothing else is done. Takes 30 mins. It is a gimick. Unless you have an issue there really isnt much of a reason to take it in. I guess if you want peace of mind then go for it. I did.

i ride a bicycle
the "first inspection visit" at 1000-3000 miles is only intended to address concerns with the car, any complaints, can't figure out how something works, etc. there is no oil change involved (except diff fluid replacement on SL65 and G55 Kompressor). if you are totally satisfied with your vehicle, then you can feel free to skip it. also, don't forget the free tire rotation at 6500 miles (MY '05 only)
