Flat Hood Badge Install
I know I'm gonna get flamed for saying this, but I don't understand how to install the flat hood badge i got from ebay. I checked the posts and some explain how to, but i think i got a different kind of model. Mine comes with this black "flywheel thing"(not sure what its called, which i suppose is supposed to go on the screw and adapt to the hood i suppose but im not sure. If anyone bought a hood badge from Lee on ebay can you tell me how you installed it. Or if anyone else can tell me. Pics would be nice too. Thanks

... or for extra credit, post a photo of the flat badge kit that you have. I got a flat badge kit, OEM Mercedes to judge from the bag it came in, for my '03 E. The threaded shaft on the badge was too short to readily screw the nut on to the bent bracket that goes (barely) over the hole on the underside of the hood; said bracket slipped from my fingers and I lost it between the metal layers of the hood, never to be seen again. I ended up kludging a new, larger, bracket from some bar stock I had in the garage. It's not pretty but it works.
The C hood may be different from the E hood, but the generic badge kit I got sure wasn't the right size for my car.

It's just that the badge is so loose that you dont know if its put on right or how to tighten it. Thats why you need to have the silicon or any kind of adhesive to put under the badge and above the hood...If you get that down, you're golden

assemble the adapter, "holder" and locking nut in the hood first. Just snug the bolt... Do not tighten. Then insert the "Clips" (actually they are nylon grommets) about half way into the adapter (from the top of the adapter, not from below as depicted... the clips go between the emblem and the adapter). Then push the emblem pins into these grommets till the emblem lies flat on the hood. Finally, tighter the nut from below to pull everything tight.
