No Crank, No start

Hello I have a 2002 C320. My car has been down for 3 months now. It all happened in September when I park my car and I didn’t want to starter or crank at all. My key didn’t want to turn in the ignition and I had to tow it to my house. When I put my key the screen on the dashboard lits up and I hear a clicking sound coming from my engine but it won’t start. I had check my battery it has 14 volts and it’s fully charged. Had my starter replaced since it had died on me once, change the front SAM module. It still won’t crank and start. I’m about to change the Electric Steering Lock but I don’t know if that’s the issue or it’s something else. Any help and advice is appreciated greatly I really want my car back. Thank you

1) Does the car make the "zip" noise? (steering wheel lock unlocking)
2) Are you able to turn the key?

If 1), then the steering wheel lock is functioning. Not sure if this mechanism is known for failing.

If you have to jiggle the key fob in the EIS (electronic ignition switch) before 1) and 2) can happen, then the EIS is defective (physical wear). If this is the case, mention it here and I can point you in the right direction.

How many miles (km) on the car?

no it doesn’t do the zip sound and now I’m able to turn the key after a few try but it still doesn’t do the sound. Not evening the clicking sound when I put the key in the ignition.

my car is high mileage it has 229,411 miles.

Had the same (or similar) problem.
No zip sound, no clicking sound, no crank, but key could sometimes turn.
It was ECU related.
