Dashboard + Cluster not working on a jumpstarted W203 2003 wagon
I will try to give out as much information as possible.
The company I work for owns a wagon(break) C-Class 200cdi W203 from 09.2003. It was not started for about a month(dec-jan) during cold temperatures(between -15 and 0 degrees Celsius). The car had to be jumpstarted in order to be able to turn it on...it turned on first try, but the whole dashboard - cluster instrument is not working but the car is 100% functional. I've checked the fuse(7.5 same as manual) #42 which according to the manual should be the one for the cluster instrument, and it had continuity, no signs of burns and the voltage was there when tested.
I've also tried disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes, this also hasn't worked. Every other fuse was fine aswell....
Could it be a connection issue? The battery not having enough power even though, everything electrical works(a/c, radio, headlights etc.)? A loose wire? The dash cluster instrument short-circuitted by the jumpstart?
I'm a bit lost : )
, as I have a similar model myself and could be useful in the future.I will try removing it and checking the cables, cheers.

charge the battery to full charge to be sure it's topped up.
Maybe check the CCA to make sure they are up to snufff. Cheap battery testers on Amazon will do this.
I had this happen about 3 different times. But the last time it refused to come back to life and I took
it to a place called Palo Alto Speedometer in Palo Alto CA. They have the test rig for this unit.
They hooked ip and were able to communicate with it, and gave me a quote to do the data transfer ie mileage data to another
cluster, but whatever thtey did, it woke it up and once plugged back into my car, it came back to life and all was good.
Cost me nothing except time and gas.
Don't just put anther clister in or you will forever have 999999 miles on your ododmeter.
Mileage is stored in multiple places in the car, like the transmission, clister and ECU and they all need to match,.
You could call those guys and see if there's a place closer to you or send it to them.
But as someone said do a scan also to see what shows up beforre anything.

These cars go bonkers when the battery gets old or is failing.
So.
1. Charge battery.
2 Test battery.
3. Scan with Mercedes enabled scan tool.
4. Follow that where it leads you.
5. blow fuses. related to cluster?
6. Get cluster tested and if bad get a replacement and have data transfered by company that can do that
like PA speedomter as mentioned previously.

Without me knowing someone else tried to jumpstart the car previously and put the cables the other way around...
200 euros down the drain..
