Hello,I have a 2006 Mercedes-Benz W203 C220 CDI (150 hp) wagon, and I’m trying to figure out the purpose of two threaded holes at the front of the engine.
In the first picture (not my car), they are the two holes circled in red.
My dad suggested they might be for small dampers that support the plastic engine cover so it doesn’t sit directly on the engine. I found two of those dampers on another car and screwed them in to test it. I didn’t force anything, and the threads seemed to match and go in smoothly, but with them installed the engine cover no longer fits properly.
So now I’m wondering:
Are these holes actually meant for something else?
Am I missing any screws, brackets, or other parts there?
Or could they be used as lifting points for removing the engine?
I’m still quite new to working on cars, so I’d really appreciate any clarification.
Thank you in advance!
