Ordering a C230 SS

In early January I plan to order a C230 SS 6-speed. I will order black/black with fold down seats. The salesman who my dad ordered his car from said I'd get it for $500 over invoice without playing hardball, and I'm amenable to that. However, when my dad got his car, he got a $500 dealer fee, and had them include 20% tint in that, and they waived the rediculous advertising fee. I feel that I have no negotiating room on this dealer fee, and don't think I should make much of it, but what have others done? Is the price expected to increase with the new year, like it did last year? At invoice + $500, I calculate $28,693 + tax and fees, which is a great value for this car compared to the TSX I have considered, and has lower insurance costs. What are oil changes running from the dealer? This will be my college graduation present to myself.

I suggest you contact Marcus, he will give you a great price and also he is a MB world sponsor, from what I heard some people got the cars below invoice to talk to him and look around.

Remember that certain stealers will pad their so called invoices with advertising fees, dealer paperwork fees, etc. They are all intended to max his profits. Don't pay them. If he states $xxx over invoice make sure its the number you found and that all his little ADP $$$$ are on his own nickel. If the stealer has an issue insist on receiving the holdback.

Thanks for your responses and offers. I will be using a salesman at Ft. Lauderdale MB who has spent hours of time with me already when I first went to look at the car not knowing if it was what I wanted, and my dad purchased his car from him last year. Last year, Autohaus didn't want to negotiate much.

What is the holdback amount for the C class? I can't find a solid number for it, but if it's around $1,000 or something, and he's getting above invoice, then I'll negotiate to have him waive all prep fees and still include the tint - although I doubt he'll throw anything in at that point.

One of the sweetest features of the Mercedes Sport Sedans is the Blue tinted windows. I think one would be making a mistake to cover them with generic tinting film.

You may want to reconsider adding more tint, thus detracting from the unique blue windows.

I have to agree here. I have been deciding between a C230 SS, possibly a C32, and an E430 Sport. The one thing I do not like about the E is the lack of Blue Glass. I even live in hot *** Houston and I would probably not tint the windows still

Just my humble opinion

I believe the Appearance Package should include the blue glass on an E-Class.

I HATE that blue tint! I wish I could order my C230K SS without it.

hmm...I am aware that there is blue tint, but what percentage? Having black tint on a black car wouldn't look bad, and a heavier tint would also be functional. I'll have to look at it again before making a decision.

Thanks - that's around $800 for holdback + $500. They can prep the car for $1,300 profit.
