the base line was the facory rated HP and Torque, then added the diffrence to the facory rated numbers so there was no need to estmate the parasitic loss of the drive train. I don't have the graphs but i will see if they will send me one.

If we ordered the pulley kit where would we be able to have it instaled and about how much would that cost? Thanks for all the information.

Otherwise I would suggest a private Mercedes shop or a local speed shop. It’s straight a forward bolt on install.

With the pulley kit installed, I assume the ECU wouldn't produce any codes that would indicate that the engine has been tampered with? Is this upgrade transparent enough so not to affect the warranty?
Thanks.

I changed mine I did not get the C-7 package. That was a mistake would get now if I had know all the differences.
You can also get the color matched door handles like in the C-7 package. They cost about $63 a side are a must if you have the grey ones.

Out Of Control!!
Well, when I talked to Bob Brady at Renntech, he said the same thing. So, there's two sources.
But, like you, I didn't remember any difference in the throws. But, I didn't do them one right after the other. That's another reason for why we would need C230 meets in the spring, when things warm back up!

Yet another power improvement
It appears that Wetterauer has a chip that would increase a peak engine HP from 193 HP to 230 HP and peak engine torque from 206 ft/lbs to 236 ft/lbs for $1,295. These are pretty impressive numbers.
Find more at Wetterauer's site for the US at http://www.chip-tuning.com. If anyone gets it, I hope that he/she will let us know.

I checked the Renntech website and their kit for the SLK pulley only can upgrade the engine power to 205hp 220lb/ft so whats the difference with the new kit that offers 225hp 240lb/ft ?

Yup, I know...
Yup, I know, I got caught in the web site name chip-tuning, and they have been known for making chips for Audi/VW, which have turbo engines that can be easily chipped. I guess that supercharger has to be done mechanically, that is, with a pulley and all that stuff. But, anyway, it seems to me that they are selling a pretty much the same thing as Renntech, except for $400 less. Would it be any disadvantage taking the Wet instead of a Renntech?

I don't know the relative merits of the various turners' pulley kits. Brabus, Dyno-spot and Kleemann make them also. Most claim 230 hp and 250 lb-ft torque. That's a 25% increase in torque and the torque curve stays as flat over the same rev range as stock.
Upsolute Power is claiming similar results with a $325 chip.

Different Chips and pully kits
The 2002 230k fuel injection system is different the 2001 SLK 230. The ECU is also different it is now a sealed box before there were flexible tabs that could be bent to allow removal of the cover. The new one has a heavy metal tab that can’t be bent it will require cutting. The changes a chip will make to the system won’t be picked up by the service centers computer but physical changes to the box will be apparent.
I would recommend that you check the chip modifiers warranty; does it cover the chip mod or the whole ECU? Pulley Kits are another item; it’s not a race to put in the largest pulley but the one that produces the best streetable performance there is a fine line between power out vs power consumption of the supercharger.
There are only a few tuners that develop there own pulley kits and tune there chips. The others are just reselling a generic product. I would not let $300 dollars make up my mind between the best and the lest expensive.

Yes. The price is the tip-off. It is much more expensive than the chips and inline with what others are charging for pulley kits.

Tuning type: Hardware Upgrade;
"The kit includes a pulley that maintains the magnetic clutch, a drive belt, fuel pressure regulator
and special air intake pipe for the increased air volume"
However, under C230K and CLK200K :
Tuning type: Alpha (i.e. chip only!)
The "tuned" power and torque are the same in all 3 cases, so are the prices...
So, they must have updated only the CLK230 page and left the other two in "generic" form (copied and pasted from a template).
Thanks, Lynn!

I’m bummed my HID kit did not come in today as expected. Now I will have to wait until Saturday to get them installed if they come in tomorrow. My car should be complete by the end of February. Parts for the C230 are still hard to come by but I expect that by spring we should have a lot more available. I have already lowered the car but I found a full set up with matched springs, shocks, and sway bars. That is due in two weeks. That should finish up the suspension. I don’t believe that is a legitimate chip out there yet most of what I see look like chips for C230K sedan not the new Coupe. I will wait a little longer for that.
BTW a RSX might take me in a sprint like a 1/8 mile but that’s about it.
