Service Bulletin # for '05 Transmission Leak

A few owners on here stated that they had a leak (transmission fluid I believe) and that MBUSA had put out a bulletin for this. Can someone please provide me with the number? I have already searched, thanks.

How could you have sold that car without letting me know first? Who has it now. I have been looking for a perfect one for a long time

My 2001 had a tranny leak the first week I had it. The dealer wanted to fix the sealed tranny. I insisted it be replaced with a brand new one or he can keep the car.

He brought in a new one. The car was great after that. It's now gone and the 05 has not had that issue.

Is there really a bulletin on this?

Pit-Pony-
Didn't know there was another MR2 fan on this board...if I had known you were interested, I would of told you. It was sold in May of '04, it was in pretty mint condition, only having 57K on the clock. I've got plenty of other pics of the car if you would like to see them.

Im pretty sure there is a bulletin on this.

mick1-
Not sure when the leak will occur, most owners experienced it early in mileage. I have not experienced the leak and I have close to 8K on my car, however its better to be safe then sorry, so when I go to have my car serviced I will make sure they address the issue.

However, we still need the bulletin #, thats the missing link, anyone?

Thanks

the common tranny leak is only with the 2 O-Rings, its an easy 10-15minute replacement job. the leak is only visible if u take off the plastic underbody cover.

Thanks, I believe the service bulletin was for the O-rings. You don't have the # by any chance?

I don't know if it'll help. The bulletin on MbKlasse isn't for 05's, but 02's.

oh ****, my bad, I didn't realize that I was a member of mbklasse.

(Cross-posted from the Parking Lot)

Folks, there's a tech bulletin for a leak in the auto tranny, coming from the electrical connection. The fix involves a modified adapter. I didn't even know mine was leaking, so those of you with auto may want to have it checked. (I had my car in for an A service, and they fixed it.) The invoice lists the replaced part as a bushing, No. 140-270-02-50-28. Plus tranny fluid, of course.

I do not know if this applies only to '02s. I didn't think to ask, sorry. I have to go back at some point; they still owe me a couple steering wheel buttons. I'll find out then.
After reading this again, I realized that this probably isn't it... Sorry, I can't seem to find anything else.

Mine leaked before the first service at 10,000km. Never occurred to me to ask them to replace the whole tranny because of this...
On hind side, should have done so because my leak was quite excessive - a large pool of transmission fluid on the garage floor. I didn't know when it started, but my car was about 4-months old on its first service.

Not anytime soon I can't. Had it a little too close to my "to be shredded" pile and think wifey did it away with it. I looked for it right before I typed my response and notice it wasn't where I left it, oooops. I plan on asking for another copy next time I take it in for service.

you would think the mechanics would know about this problem, since it has occurred so frequently.

Don't know about the US, but the mechanics here know about it. When I first brought my car in to complain about transmission jerkiness when it was 1-month old, the first thing they did was to look for transmission fluid leakage underneath the car...

When I asked them how could they expect a brand new car to leak, they kept quiet...

I brought my car in for alignment at 3k miles the other week and mentioned the tranny plug leak issue to them to take a look at. They said that they were aware of tranny seal leak problem in the '05 c-class models for some time now but many of the current built c-classes already have the updated seals installed. They checked my car and said it had the updated seal (I got my car in November).

So you may wanna check with your dealership on that.
