Moved to NJ and just havent changed my tag. Only had one car in the city but here I have lots of room. At about $400 per car, it would be very ugly.

Rare indeed. I got mine after 6 months of searching in Jan. 2000. And the way I found that MR2 is directly related to Mercedes-Benz.
I spotted that emerald green 94 Turbo on a used Stevens Creen Toyota lot in San Jose, righ across from Smythe European MB dealer. What's more, I wanted to get ML320 at one time in '98 and put down $500 deposit (it was a long wait then). then I lost interest in ML but was to lazy to drive to Smythe to get my money back until that day in January (the ML's were readily available by then of course). And as I left the MB dealer I instantly saw the MR2 on Toyota's lot.
I specifically did not want to buy used car from a dealer and was looking at private party sales then but the car looked so nice with only 52K miles on odometer (came off lease and spent year at dealers) I decided to take a chance. Good thing I gave up upon deal closure and got 3yr/36K extended warranty for $799 then. It paid twice for its cost over time(head gasket replaced and transmission overhaul). I hope the car is debugged by now.
I only wish I was the original owner and got to enjoy all the reliability others keep talking of.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant on this board a big chunk of owners are sports car inclined fans so it's quite natural at least few of them having MR2 as their other car.
As for sale numbers per that year, you re way too optimistic. According to
http://www.mr2.com/FAQ_html.html#3.2
there were only 908 Toyota 1994 model year MR2's sold in US. I've owned two of these.
Concentration of these cars here in SF Bay Area is quite high though. I am a member of MR2 club as well and know in person one other 94 turbo owner and two 95 turbo and one 95 NA owners locally.

So how much u got the 94 for?
Amazing how much used MR2 sold for. You could get your hands on 94-95 if you are lucky and expect to pay at least $15K
There are plenty of 91 Turbo and they sold for 7K-10K which IMHO has very good resale price
I guess those old japanese "supercars" were born in the wrong time. People who want them cannot afford and people who can afford probably prefers something non-japanese
94 MR2 turbo sold for $30K+ when its new.

I negotiated it to $14400 in 2000. plus $800 for warranty, then taxes/registration of course. Came down to 16K+ out of pocket.
Since then I spent $7850 on repaires, service, tires, few mods for autocross (tokico shocks, racing rims and Kumho V700 rubber). Still love it.
