Loss of power....help!

Got up the other day, damn a flat!
Pumped it up enough to drive to the
tire store, got it repaired.
Got in the car, took off from the
store...
woah...whats this...
like 50% power loss...
getting up to freeway speed is like driving a Rabbit diesel..
Whats up with that?
Checked under the hood...nothing obvious...
no leaks under the car....dry weather, about 60 degrees outside.

I really doubt anything coulda happened at the tire store...
and only drove a short distance from when I fired it up to
where the tire shop was...so short I maybe didn't notice the problem. But figured I should include the info.

I'm not getting any codes on the dash. The tranny seems to have adjusted to this anomoly shifting sooner than before....downdshifting to make up for the lack of power.
I find that odd....that it figured out something was up, and
changed from the usual shift points.

Feels constipated, like someone stuffed a banana in the tail pipe, or the brake is stuck...or it's running on 3 cylinders.

At low RPM, it feels normal, but as soon as you start to climb up the RMP's it gets there....but sooooo much slower than usual.
Anyone else have this happen?
I think it may have happened to me one other time, and that was during a heavy rain. The next day it was fine.
Haven't driven today but will soon.
HELP!

I guess it's back to the shop.....geez.....
I can't afford another car right now....
750 a month in depreciation.....
constant trips to the shop....
Woa is me....
I thought MBZ was supposed to be well made and reliable...
such a disapointment...
Hopefully the extended warranty will cover it.

On my ole 2002 C230 I had the same problem. My 4 cyl pickup truck was faster. It turned out to be a lose wire in the coilpack. Someone else on the forum also experienced the same problem and was able to fix it himself.

do you use the ebrake when you park? or did the guy at the tire shop use your ebrake? It might be that you pull the handle but the ebrake doesnt fully disengage. it happend to me when i first bought my car be cause it was sitting in a garage for almost 3 years. this may be the problem but i doubt it. Its worth metioning as a possibility though.

Is the kompressor boosting (radio off, window down, listen)

Check coil pack for loose wires and moisture (also look for a crack in the housing)

Just thought I'd chime in on one of my old threads and say what it turned out to be.
It was the bypass valve. It was stuck closed.
So no boost.

What was the damage to repair the bypass valve? If you don't mind my asking. Did you have it repaired at the dealership?

Excellent, this is what we need. Threads that raise problems, and show what the solution was. Thanks for completing this. Now I'll have some answers if it happens to me.
