Unhappy My house burned to ashes

Hi All, yesterday we had a huge fire disaster in Calgary. My house completely burned down, with all my posessions, except my Coupy: yesterday we were supposed to have our parkade cleaned so I took it to work. Usually I don't drive to work.

Careless workmen, what can you do. A friend of mines parents house blew up in a ball of flames when painters lit a cigaratte in a house that had it's interior freshly painted with oil based flamable paint. Luckily now everything is water based.

Hope you get a nice settlement from the insurance company and find a nice place to park your coupe.

Sorry to hear that, man

I hope you can regain some of your personal stuff (photos, etc) from friends and family. Most possessions are replaceable, though. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear of your bad news -- it's unbelievable that one person's mistake could cause all that devastation. I don't think people can realize what you're feeling -- good luck.

Unhappy Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but glad to...

know that you and your family are OK. Hopefully your insurance settlement will cover for most of your material losses and things will be back to normal soon.

Take care.

That really sucks. Good thing no body was injured. Hopefully something good will come out of this. Nice settlement maybe? Who knows but you always need to keep your head up on life.

Glad to know that you are alright...sorry to hear about the house and things inside. Like everyone has said...most things can be replaced....just a hassle to deal with all the paerwork, etc to get everything settled....but all will work out in the end.

Yes most of the stuff is replaceable, except the old paintings that I brought over from Europe and of course all the photos, home videos etc.
I was there yesterday and saw my fireplace suspended in the air.

Damn... That's the worst... Sorry to hear about your losses... Leaves you suspended... Hope you have managed to save something in digital form.

I've been thinking about things like that, and now I'm going to convert all my home videos in digital format (VCD) and store them away from home, along with lots of stuff already on PC hard drives.

Yeah, I'm gonna do the same from now on
Very little survived in digital form (i.e. source code, photos, videos, music), I have had backups but not off-site. I know, that's sloppy. I was playing a lot with Digital Video in the last 1.5 year and all my movies are kaput as well. No Oscars for me

I've learned my lesson. As soon as I have something of value, I'll get a safety deposit box... or two

Pretty sad way to learn a lesson though
Hope everything will works out fine for you in the end and that some things will be recoverable. Well, most important you're still here, and as a bonus so is your Benz
