Chrome Hood Vent Strakes

Been thinking about a mod to add chrome strakes over the hood vent. It would look similar to the hood vent strakes on the SLK shown in pictures in this thread:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...hlight=strakes

The SL has similar strakes. I'm assuming on the SLK and SL the strakes are not separate pieces, but are part of the vent grilles, and therefore not detachable and graftable onto a W203.

Anyone else ever consider this, and anyone have any bright ideas on how to accomplish such a mod?

Nice idea, I did it on my other hood w/SL type ones...you gotta have it custom made though.

Cool. What car was it that you put them on?

Did you just tell them "make me some strakes" like the SL has?

Just buy the grille inserts and disassemble them to get the chrome strakes. I agree it would look cool.

Oh. :-) I thought when you said "other hood" I thought you meant other car. I didn't know you had two hoods. Gotcha.

See that's what I don't know yet at this point. Whether the strakes are separate pieces, or whether the grille and strakes are all one piece of metal.

Well, there's three ways to find out...you can troll on the SLK boards and ask and ask and ask, you can contact Steve, or you can go down to the dealer parts desk and look at the parts book for a new SLK.

I'd love to get involved and help, but with a newborn child right now, my mod time is Zero. Let me know how you make out, I'd like to do the same thing.
