Question C230 Bulbs...

He all,

My question is, does anyone know what bulb types the 05 C230 Coupe uses?

I know I could probably find it in the manual, but I'm at work and don't have it available to check. Also, when searching, no one refered to the 05 models and I wasn't sure if it changed or not.

I think it's H7 (high/low headlight @ 55W) and HB3 (fog @ 60W), but I would like to know for sure.

I use CATZ Galaxy (or Aqua) bulbs in all my cars (they are awesome) and wanted to slap them on the benz.

Thanks in advance...

I'm assuming that you don't have bi-xenon headlamp assemblies, correct?

From what I've read from a search for 2005 bulbs, the fog lights carry hb4 (which is equivalent to a 9006 bulb).

Also, from what I understand from reading that same search, all the headlight assemblies for the w203 are the same fitament (coupe or sedan). And from what I've read for the 2005's, the halogen headlamps (hi/low) carry h7 bulbs.

Search on this forum is much easier than a lot of people think. It's better to start out more general on searches (keeping the search exclusive to the AMG C32/C55 and W203 forums).

Good luck with that!

No, I don't have bi-xenon cause I'm an idiot

I'm also having a hard time finding CATZ Galaxy products online. They used to be much easier to find... did CATZ go out of buisness or something?

Instead of spending money on bulbs, just save up and have a conversion done for the bi-xenon headlights! Do a search and you'll find a ton of threads about the swap. Definitely worth it! I got the bi-xenons factory ordered on my 2004.5 230 K SS and they're probably the best factory purchased item I got when I bought the car.

Good idea, but I have experienced the CATZ Galaxy bulbs and they are sufficient for me, especialy since they would cost less than 200 for headlamp and fog setup. Compared to $XXXX for bi-xenon, and then have to get the dealership to change the settings for it...

I thought the HB3's were 9005 (60W) and the HB4's were 9006 (51W)?

That's correct! Hb4 is equivalent to the 9006 bulb. I don't know where elchinocache got that info on the hb3, but when you do a search on www.google.com for Hb4, it'll give you hits for 9006 bulbs also.

There are 2-3 threads in the classified forum selling replacement headlamps, including a thread by me regarding 50% brighter european H7 lamps (hehe).
