How much is MB "Maintenance Commitment" worth?

Mercedes Benz calls it "Maintenance Commitment"; sounds like a marriage to me; I already have one of those. Other people refer to the program as "free maintenance" although they fail to realize that it is not free; they are paying for it.

What items does the 'commitment' cover, and how much is it really worth?

Does MB have it for the '05's too?

The 'commitment' covers FSS Service A and B. Don't know what else is needed or covered. So far I have had a Service A and a Service B (which included a brake fluid change). I have 25,000 miles on my '03 C240. You might find the services listed on your dealer's website along with their prices. Here in Orlando, MB of South Orlando charges $350 for Service A and $600 for Service B. You can check this link for what is included:
http://www.southorlando.mercedescent...specials.jhtml

I think you can buy a service contract on the '05's.

Hope this helps.

So brake fluid change and wiper blades are part of the FSS service B on 03 models? Curious as I'm comming up on 20,000 miles.

The free maintenance includes every maintenance required in the handbook. There are those that are FSS based like A and B and those that are time based like brake fluid, fuel filter changes, radiator flush, trans oil, air filter, etc.... Typically the dealer those these time based services in conjunction with the A/B services to save you a trip and because most don't remember these. I did the math with the service people once and it came out to over $2K if you keep your car the full term, in other words you have it for 4 years and 50K miles. If you drive the entire 50K miles in one year then you won't get as much benefit. You really don't appreciate the free maintenance until you come in for the B at 60K miles and they hit you up for some time based maintenance at the same time and give you a $700 bill. To avoid not getting free maintenance, either buy a pre-2005 MB or a any new Audi, Mitsubishi or BMW. The more people do this, the more MB will realize that it's an important feature. Personally, I wanted the 2005 but sought out a 2004.5 just for the free maintenance.

That's why I'm looking at 2004 E320's that are still in stock.

Also, I think I have read on these forums of being able to buy a maintenance contract for the 2005. Anyone know for sure?

You are correct. Someone posted pics that included prices. Not sure who it was now.

The price of an '05 coupe is exactly the price I paid in '03 for my coupe...and I got maintenance...so it was free.

Amdeutsch:

From www.yourdictionary.com:

"There is no word with the spelling "duckundrennwegschnell" in the dictionary. Please check your spelling and try again. "

"Duck" seems to have something to do with crouching (I guess as in duck and cover), "renn" means run, "weg" means away and "schnell" means quick. So, crouch and run away fast? Am I close?

I know German is fond of compound words, but really . Also, I see you are a fan of Asterix, n'est-ce pas?
