Steel grey?

Steel grey?
Driving through the GW "campus" in downtown DC this morning, I saw a 2005 Coupe in a color that (by elimination) must be steel grey. That's the first time I have seen this color, and it looks great on the coupe. It helps the black pano roof blend in very nicely, yet the car retains (to my eyes) more visual punch than the black ones. Don't get me wrong, the metallic (and even plain) black color choices are all nice, but this one pushes my buttons.
If I were choosing now, I'd probably have a hard time choosing between that color and silver.

Before this morning, I was unaware of the fact that one could order a C in steel grey. As a result, I first thought that the color I was seeing was granite grey -- but the latter would have been much closer to battleship grey and less "deep" (no flames please; GG is a fine color, I am sure, but not my cup of tea -- I find it too "flat", for lack of a better word).
My initial reaction was thus one of surprise, so much so that I parked my car and went to see the mysterious coupe from closer. It is very close to the following picture (found in this thread), with a little less blue in the paint:

MBWorld Fanatic!
I was about to post a question about Steel Gray earlier today i noticed it in the 2005 C Class Sports Brochure that I picked up fromm the Houston Auto Show day before yesterday, yet I have never really heard much talk about it or have actually seen the color in person.
In the link the color looks really blueish, but that could be from the cloudyness or overcast perhaps. In the book the sample looks much darker than in the pic.
I would like to see a Charcoal gray C or Flint Gray

Weather conditions were partly sunny yesterday. Only one side of the car I saw was in the sun. In the sunlight, the color is stunning -- just enough sparkle to make it really interesting and work well with the shiny bits (wheels, grille, etc.). In the shade, it is still nice while VW's BA loses some of its "depth".

What I saw was too dark for Granite or even Flint. Tectite is a possibility, but (i) I am not aware that it's available on the C and (ii) if memory serves, there is a hint of green in TG, whereas there seemed to be some blue in the color I saw (could be the sky, of course).
