Thanks everyone.

Not bad for a first post? I must be OK cuz the mod did not reply with "search"...

So far - CarsDirect.com kicks everybody's **** as far as effort spent searching for a customer. The price so far is almost $2k below "invoice"....and I used to sell cars (don't kill me) so it would be real hard to BS me. We got close: Pweter/black with, Auto, Nav, BiX, sunroof, power seats, & 6 disk....... No heated seats

Well......the fetching Mrs. Rizzo's current piggest-pile-of-crap-in-the-world VW Jetta VR6 has heated seats and she made it clear that NO WAY can we skip the bun warmers on the new car so it looks like we are going to order.

I'm gonna skip the entertainment package. I currently have a BMW 330Ci with the "Harmon Kardon" upgrade that sounded like garbage. I ended up interfacing 800W worth of JL amps, Focal speaks and a 12" sub to the factory head unit with Sirius and and Ipod...so I think I could do well with the radio if I need to. For me the money is better spent on aftermarket equip.

I'm told that the orderer might be able to grab a car in the same color that is already scheduled for production, and add my options (if they are available given the "just-in-time" production). Anybody know?

Now......since I'm gonna order.........we have to decide on a 230WZ OR...320WZ.............it never ends.

I'll keep you posted - you seem like good people!
Thanks again.

I got exactly what I wanted on the car, but I should have opted for the extended warranty.

Since they've stopped production on the M111 and changed to the 1.8L, I'm thinking I'll keep this car until MBUSA makes up it's mind about importing the C350 coupe. Production is confirmed for European and even Canadian deliveries, but MBUSA is stepping on it's own d.....wait, let me rephrase that.....MBUSA is shooting itself in the foot if the rumors are true about not importing this car.

I have a sedan...I don't need another with a C350 4 door or wagon. I want the coupe, but refuse to pay 1.5 times the current C320 sedan price for the exact same drivetrain in a CLK. It's not that much more of a car than our beloved coupe to justify the substantial increase in cost (sorry CLK owners, but it's true). So, if MBUSA can't deliver the C350 Coupe, I'll keep my C230k til it dies and trade in my sedan on a Porsche Cayenne S.

Contour driver's seat if you do any extended driving times. After about an hour my butt gets sore with the power seats.

i regretted not getting COMAND at first but now i'm much happier that i didn't get it since i got the European COMAND from Steve which i prefer much more than the U.S. version

so the things i wish i had in my car would be Bi-Xenon lighthing package and 6-speed manual transmission, those damn 6 speeds are hard to find! (plus not getting the automatic woulda saved me $$$)

Rizzo,

Hey man - I've seen you at bimmerfest. Our C240 doesn't have the full power seat with memory - I miss that. The base audio system in the C blows away the system in my 540. It's a cryin' shame

A buddy of mine just got a white one with the exact same options you want from Caliber in Anaheim Hills. He dealed it down to 34K flat, then added a $1,500.00 employee discount coupon we had. Not bad at all for a car with a 38K+ sticker!

I used to think power seats. But a week in a C240 made me realize that they move too slow, and would get used too little in a car that only I drive. Heated seats, OTOH, yeah, that would have been nice.

Ive already added the Bix(wasn't available in 02), and climatronic(also not available), so all that's left on my want list is Comand.

I wish MB would have made some other(euro) options available here....like the 3.2SC motor, the AMG nose and tail, and Parktronic....I would have been interested in them.

Is it possible to add heated seats? I had a Scorpio that had two panels in each seat that got hot like an electric blanket. They were easy to install, just attached tot he bottom of the seat. The wires were in the harness, and I think the whole package was about $400 with the two switches to turn them on. How does DaimlerChrysler fit them?

Someone posted that using the A class heating elements was the easiest way to do this, or you need different seats. IIRC.

A-Class elements basically slip between the cushion and the fabric. they are the easiest. the C-class ones are sewn into the cushion i believe.

3. Rain sensing wiper (cannot be retrofitted without changing entire windshield)
4. New heated seats (3 heat levels in '05 and later, not 2)
5. Lighted door sills (yes an expensive option, yet very cool!)
6. Cloth (I got the leather and wish I hadn't. I'd rather pay for a custom 2-tone aftermarket leather)
7. Upgraded brakes (the '04.5s have the upgraded 'AMG' brakes, the '05s (or was it the upcoming '06s?) seem to have a downgraded brake package, 2 pistons versus 4).
You regret the leather and I regret the cloth, I would love to have leather!! Well, at least my cloth seats are heated.

I don't regret much other than COMAND, which I have since added.

The fabric is of high quality, and I think it actually holds you better, but when I look at the set of extras I have in my garage, I'm so glad I got the leather- the pattern on the cloth is really dopey.

hmmm... heated seats and the illuminated sills would've been nice. and if digital climate control had even been available, I'd have gotten that as well. And if they could've swapped out the sedan wheels for mine.

illuminated sills are installed by the dealer. digi climate control you can do yourself as well as A-class heated seating elements.

Good luck finding the car you want, it'll be really tough. I was in the same situation as you in August and they couldn't find squat for me. I had to settle on not getting some options, but I didn't settle on not getting both the lighting and entertainment packages.
I'd have to 2nd, Phil's comments. I wish I would've financed comand. Then it wouldn't be another extra amount of $$$ that I'd have to drop all at once. I didn't know that there wasn't a monthly extra charge for this (so I never even considered it until it was too late). I also should've gotten the split seats and heated seats (which was supposed to be included, but the sales person messed up).

An option that I would not have gotten, if I had researched it properly (at the time, I didn't think the mod bug would hit me with a Benz), is the BOSE premium sound system. I don't have any complaints really (except for the rattling in the rear hat-shelf still, even after bringing it up to the dealership), but would've liked to upgrade the speakers w/o having to worry about messing with the fiber optics...The adaptive sound (even though it's turned off the most it can be) is annoying.

Another thing too, considering the 2005's came out a few months after my car arrived, I would've bargained for an even better price than I paid (despite the special order and all the options I had).
