Vent problems
This is my best description: it sounds like it's coming from the passenger side, and it is similar to holding a sea shell to your ear. It picks up when I accelerate and then decimates into a soft rumble when I come to a stop; I hope you find this amusing but this is really the best I can describe it. It only happens when the car is moving, at 15mph or greater.
I checked that the rubber door seals are not compromised, and that all the windows are properly closed. Also checked my sunroof. I just can't figure out what the sound is. It's quite noticeable even when I play the radio loud. I noticed it yesterday morning for the first time, and it hasn't gone away.
I wonder if it's a vent problem and there's wind rushing through an open valve... Anyone with ideas?

What is a driveshaft center bearing and how does it get loose? Time to google. Turned out nothing to do with the vents. Going to pick up the car in an hour, hopefully it is fixed as they say. They gave me a loaner (05 c240 4matic).

The sounds in the car sounded like wind/vent related sounds. My initial conjecture was that a vent was stuck in an open position. I am not a mechanic and that was my best guess.
Part of the dilemna with this board is that one has to know what the problem is in many cases to post in the appropriate thread. That is akin to knowing the spelling for a word to look it up in a classic printed dictionary. One could be off. I assure you my intentions were not to hijack anything... If you have other comments or suggestions feel free to email me directly.
The original poster asked about vent illumination not going off. Not sure how this can be tied to sounds coming out of the vents. No mutimedia here.
