TSK! Check engine light
Car runs fine, no signs of trouble...but the chk engine light just wont come out. Will that indicator need to be reset by MB Dealer?, or will it just reset itself????? My Lex reset itself when i had d plugs cleaned, when it started to misfire.
Any bright ideas on how to turn off the check engine light without going to d dealer?????? my nearest dealer charges US$885.00 for star diagnosis alone (Coz they say its a sin to import a car by yourself, so u have to pay d price for servicing when u commit that kind of SIN), and theyre on a separate island 900kms frm my place, 3 days by boat, two days by inter island driving! So i need to trouble shoot this myself! Another sensible idea is to buy the repair guy a ticket, and gve him an overnite stay in a nice hotel.............all for a small light on d instrument cluster!!!!!!!! TSKTSK.
the check engine light has come on for a few people and it has been anythign from bad gas to the light just coming on for no reason. It usually goes away in a day or 2 from my understanding....
In my country, most benzes r grey imports simply bcoz d dealer here has no units in stock, or has few units with lesser options. So, inorder to get back with grey import buyers, they make exhorbitant repair rates!!!! That way, they think they can lure us back to order future benzes from them. NoWay!!!!!!!! With that kind of service, ill b buying my benzes frm somebody else. MB WorldWide Warranty is only one year from date of invoice from the country of origin, plus, you have to have it PDI at your local dealer, which i didnt. In my country's capital, MB servicing is not a problem, as independent shops also buy their MB tools from europe, but since im in d province, there's no qualified tech here. In fact, im d only C240 in my place! LOL
Importing cars is a common practice here, from new Minis to Benzes to Excursions..........Its only in the past five years when the local car line-ups have bcome more varied, with more n more brands coming in.
It is understood that when u buy from a grey importer, there will b no warranty. My Lex is a grey import coz theres no lexus here, but toyota is very accomodating, cheap service rates, updated tools, and even sent a specialist mechanic for my car from their factory here. Toyota also accomodated my recall claim on my Lex. MB really pales by comparison! But what can i do, i love MB designs.......even if my A Class was also quite problematic.

i'm not really sure what to tell u about your issue though.. had it happened again? can you duplicate the prob? maybe mbtech can give u some words of advise...
Go back to the trunk and reconnect the battery.1. Make sure you have your radio key before doing this, as you will need it in order for it to work afterwards.
2. Your ESP/BAS lights will go off after doing this. To reprogram it:
Hold the brake and turn the steering wheel all the way to the left then all the way to the right.
3. Check if there is anything else that has to be reprogrammed ie: windows.
Good luck!

You should be able to retrieve information about all the things you mention, if you know where to find them in the system.
OBD-II has a standard set of values you can read out, they are defined in a specificaion. Manufacterers can add extra codes for diagnosing other stuff in the car (like airco, power seats etc). The problem is: those values are not defined anywhere (they're vendor specific). If you can get hold of a list with the adresses where the codes are, the software should be able to retreive them...
