I like the idea of having a new car every year or so, problem i m worried about is that I have to pay fr any dent and scratches and even if i m super careful its stil possible to get dents and etc. Do dealers usually hustle u for more money when you try to turn the car in?

I prefer lease because I want a new car every 2-3 years without hassle of saling old one.
That's where I'm at. Up until a couple of years ago, dealers were willing to discuss trade-ins. Now, half the time they flat refuse it, or offer lowest manhiem reported for that week and won't budge. Or worse yet, try to use the sales tax credit to make themselves some extra money.

My last two cars I've had to sell privately, and it makes buying a new car a much harder decision.

That's why I'm switching to leasing.

Well, I can't rely on MBUSA.com's calculations because when I went to the dealer on the GL450, it was completely different. I'm planning on working it from the invoice up. All the calculations are from the MSRP. Guys, try kbb.com

Red face Email from my Bay Area dealer, help on numbers

I just received an email from my Bay Area dealer. She's saying $565 off of MSRP on a White / Black that comes out to $38765. So my price is $38200. Also, the MF is .0029 with 61% residual.

If I put down $1500 total, what would the lease payment be on 12K miles at 36Months or 48Months?

Please help. Thanks!

J.

For 36 months about $605 per month

I'm assuming the 61% residual was for 36 months and not 48.

Thanks. Yep. It was around 619/month. Still doesn't seem fair, but definitely better than what most people are getting. I think I'll do what most people seem to be doing. Sit and wait for Winter Sales Event.

Totally agreed. Don't put money down on a lease. You are renting the car!Money up front can only get you into trouble. If the car is stolen, there goes your down. If the car is totalled in an accident, your down disappears. In addition, I see a ton of people attempting to get out of there leases early and trying to get their down payment back which is difficult to do.

My advice, don't put money down (cap cost reduction) unless you want to take a chance of seeing your money disappear. Only pay the drive-off fees at inception like security deposit, acquisition fee, etc.

.0029 would be totally acceptable to me, and I probably would've driven off the lot right then and there for low $600-s on a lease ... no money down. Seems reasonable enough to me.

But the sales guy kept insisting that the MF was .0046 and would not budge. Is everything negotiable on a lease and he was just thinking that he was going to grape a lease newb?

The fleetlease prices are too good to be true. I would take one in a heart beat if I could get it that low of a monthly payment.

The money factor is negotiable up to a point (changes monthly), but some sales people won't budge. Dealers make a ton of profit off of uneducated customers that don't do their homework prior to negotiating. Most people have no idea how a lease payment is calculated or even what components it consists of. Dealers take advantage of this.

Know what the lowest money factor for that month prior to going to the dealer. If they give you the run-a-round and won't budge to that number (assuming your credit is good), then walk. Use the internet to educate yourself and go into negotiations confident and prepared. Edmunds leasing forum is an excellent source for example.

I just got back from a dealer in Chicago. I was looking at the C300 Sport, with P2 and CD changer - MSRP $36,600. They gave me a 39 month lease, with 15k and zero down for $650 a month. The money factor is .00290 (6.96%), 59% residual. Do you think that's a good deal? A friend of mine got a 335i Coupe for $680 a month with 10k, 36 month, no money down.

For $650.00, you can buy the car. Based on the current loan rates at, can buy for about 714 x 60 or 613 X 72, assuming you pay taxes in cash. $650 to lease this car is not a good deal. If you really like the car, you should wait for lease rates to go down or when dealers are willing to negotiate. If you have to have it now, then I think buying it is the best option.
