Few questions on W204 interiors ..
I am looking to purchase either c300 or c350 sports and hopefully will be able to test drive it locally this weekend
Few questions that I can't find answer to after reading the mbusa and the forums for over a week now..
1. On P1 package, does either the c300 or c350 has any kind of sunshade in the rear window? I don't mean the automatic one such as in P2 package... but is there any sunshade at all by default on P1 package?
2. Ipod Integration... Will my songs from Ipod appears in the "regular" c300 or c350 dashboard display? without the multimedia package?
3. When you put the gear in reverse position, does the mirrors fold down?
4. Does W204 come with Built in Garage Opener?
K thats all. Thanks

1. Neither have a sunshade...that is P2 only. I've seen the sunshade in an E-Class and it does as good of a job as a good tint would do.
4. The C300 gets garage opener if you purchase P1 package. C350 has one standard (P1 is standard on 350).
That's all I can answer for sure...I couldn't answer the Ipod question and would guess that the mirrors do not go down because it is a car and not an SUV...I've driven both a 300 and 350 and didn't notice them going down (although I admit I wasn't paying attention to them at the time).

Without the MMP you may have some trouble getting the iPod Integration Kit. Mercedes-Benz has gone out of there way to inform dealers, because of the difference in sound quality, compared to the standard radio, they do not recommend anyone install the iPod Kit in any W204 that does not come with the MMP. They even gone so far as to say it is an unavailable option. With the MMP the iPod kit works seamlessly.

Mirror tilt
<<would guess that the mirrors do not go down because it is a car and not an SUV...>>
I think right hand mirror tilt in reverse went away with seat memory. E-class lost it in '07.
I don't know what the SUV comment means but my '01 C320's right mirror tilts down in reverse so you can see the rear wheel and is a big advantage while parking. BMW invented this feature long before MB picked it up.

I had a W203 C coupe that did it... according to the w204 manual, you have to have the seat memory function, and you have to program the position. So even on your test drive, if the 'reverse' position wasn't programmed, it wouldn't have done it. My mind vaguely also remembers something about this feature being 'Canada Only'... I'm starting a new thread about this topic shortly.

the suv comment came because of my acura experience and i assumed the MB was similar...the mdx always used to have it move down whereas the car i was looking at didn't (at least not in my year, 2003). the reason was that it wasn't really necessary in the car as it was already lower to the ground, or so that is how it was explained to me. as i said, i wasn't sure about the answer to that one
i had it in my mdx and rarely found it useful myself...i still prefer to back up the old fashioned way by turning around and looking myself.

pass side mirror tilt down in reverse when you store the reverse mirror position in seat memory. so no memory seats likely mean no tilt down mirror.
not a problem in Canada. we still get it.

The mirror tilting down function isn't so much so that you can see where you're going, it's so that you can see just how close you are to the curb ... so you don't "curb" you're nice expensive alloys with the low profile tires.
I have 19's on my BMW and the tilt feature has saved my rims on quite a few occasions.
MB is really just pitching a couple more reasons for me not to make the switch. The whole decontented thing is getting on my nerves fast.
(still love how it looks though ... arrgh, it's killing me)
But I could've sworn when I test drove that it did. Can't confirm though.

Being lower to the ground has nothing to do with it. By looking in the mirror you can place the wheel as close to the curb as you like without touching it and you cannot do that looking out the back window. My car's rear wheels are chromed 8X17.5 AMG monoblocks and touching one to the curb would cost me hundreds of dollars to rectify the damage. Don't ask how I know this.
In MB's with mirror tilt in reverse, the mirror left/right select button must be depressed for the right mirror. Otherwise, no tilt.

i think i understand how you know that and OUCH, that must not have felt good...i understand the reasoning for it, it just doesn't come into play that much for me. whatever parallel parking i do i can do using the mirrors and other points of reference in a car and don't need to see any lower. i get its usefullness though and, when the AMG rims show up, i may feel differently
