7g hesitation?
I noticed every time I've driven the new C that it doesn't really get going til I mash the throttle all the way down. I was told this is the transmission going through it's "adaptation" phase where it's learning driver habits, and after the first 1300 mls throttle response is instantaneous? Can someone confirm/deny this?

Haha yeah my step dad had the same problem with his Mercedes E class. He drives like a grandpa, and one day he tried to floor it to merge onto the freeway with a short on-ramp, and, you guessed it, nothing happened. It was like the Millennium Falcon losing its hyper-drive. He was scared that he was going to cause an accident. He took it to the dealer and he was told that his car has adapted more towards his usual driving style so when he floored it the response was expected. He was told to mix up his driving style to prevent it from happening again. This was back in 2003, and I haven't really asked him about it since.
When I get my C300 I'm going to drive like a maniac on a regular basis so when I floor it, my car will know exactly what to do

I like the analogy to the Millennium Falcon.

If you go an buy the "Sprint booster" kit, that should fix all this lag problem. Only other short term solution is to drive the car often in a "like you stole it mode" to get transmission to re adapt to sporty driving style.

The issue is not exclusive to the 7-speed, its a "problem" on many vehicles with the adaptive driving iterative algorithm feature.
Yeah the Falcon...it was a nostalgic moment...

It is old MB problem, hopefully fixed in C. For some reason my MB transmission has noticeable lug, when I hit full throttle, car is hesitating for a couple seconds then jump forward. Female drivers especially complain about the problem since jumping is quite unexpectable. If you do not have any such problem, then it means that your transmission works perfectly right, and it in learning mode.

Trans training
<<Back in 2003, Mercedes hadn't even come out with the 7 speed transmission...>>
It's not just the seven speed, since the five speed is also a learning trans. When the dealer replaced the trans module in my '01 C320, the tech printed out the training procedure so I could do it myself. It took a while but when I finished the upshifts were more evenly spaced and at higher rpms.
Don't ask me to post the procedure.

You can clear the transmission adaptive memory yourself..... just do a quick forum search on how to do this as it has been posted before. Once you clear and reset all "learned/adaptive" setting from the transmission's memory, you will be surprised how much less sluggish transmission becomes.
Alternative would be to purchase one of those "sprint booster" kit which basically keeps transmission in sports mode for quicker response and kickdown all the time.
