Manual Transmission

Has anyone seen a manual transmission car yet? Are they available? I like the automatic, but I'd love to drive a manual tranny car for comparison.

My partner is really pushing for a Volvo C70 because of the convertible factor....anyone have any first hand experience with those?

You're going to have a hard time finding a manual C300...very few dealers in the country stock them as they don't sell very easily compared to the automatics. Usually people have to special order C-Classes for a third pedal.

C70/C350
I have a C70 and bought it new

It is absolutely fantastic. I'm not sure about the new ones but they got great reviews. I have the 1998-2004 model and love it! It has NEVER given me a problem and has a ton of miles fomr driving it up and down the country more than 100x at 80+ mph the whole time. Never had any issues and is in great shape. Good in any weather too and very very reliable and minimal to keep

this will be my other car after or if I purchase the 350

Manual Transmission for C300 W204

@RandyG:
manual transmission is not available for US market C300 W204; in Canada manual transmission is standard for the C300, and automatic transmission is an option for Canada.
Infos from the option list W204...

6-speed is offered with the C300 only in the U.S. The C350 gets the 7G-Tronic.

Manual Tranny is standard in the 300 Sport in the US with the 7G Auto being an option. 300 Lux and 350 come with standard 7G Auto.

Unhappy Manual transmission for C300 W204

As I had a look at the link above (mbusa.com) I must admit, my information was wrong - sorry for that. The option list for the W204 C300 I've got must be wrong...

Nothing wrong with that...the options per country are so different it is an easy mix up. I personally like the idea of the base manual transmission because it is a way to reduce the price of the car for those in the US that absolutely must have an MB but maybe would be stretching their budget a bit.

Of course, there are always those that just love the manual regardless of the price and for them I'd like to see the 350 be offered with it as well. Even without a price reduction I'm sure they'd get a few takers. For some there is just something "pure" about doing it yourself.

Me personally, I've driven sportscars with manual tranny's for so long I'm ready for the ease of the auto.

I haven't seen one yet, but they are available on the C300. You will probably have to special order it tho.
