And you should be able to.. I paid $200 over invoice with a sales person I met first time in 10 minutes.

I paid under invoice...it helps that I used to sell benz...but the deals are out there.

The buyer has the control.

Show lack of interest. That's your best tool. Period.

I just went to a dealer today. A salesman didn't give any discount on a C350. He said if I bough the car in Southern California, it would me $2,000 to $3,000 over MSRP. He also gave me $3,000 lower than KBB trade-in value on my trade-in. He said it's almost impossible to find a C350 in my area now. :shakehead Anyone can recommend me a good dealer in Seattle area. Thanks.

Sounds half like my dealer! Stupid me fell for it. No, actually I got a couple thousand off the car. However, like you I got approx. $3000 lower than KBB on the trade in. Yes, I got a 300, but honestly they might be a little limited, but you don't need to pay MSRP.

Glad to hear you didn't say yes.

Oh, and people definitely aren't paying more than MSRP in so cal. They are paying less than MSRP.

pmb600 02-05-2008 02:50 PM

My uncle just picked up his new C300 last week in Arizona. Palladium Silver/Black MB Tex, P1, Multimedia Package, and Auto Trans. No money down, $589/mo for 39 months. He said the car cost was $100 over invoice.

Since there is only one Seattle dealer, Phil Smart MB, that's easy. They have delivered close to one hundred W204s which are now in short supply. I doubt that any discounts are available. I paid retail.

I think the California story is false because a friend who is a dealer manager told me that California MB sales are way down.

If you think that the way the commission system works is unfair then point the finger at the manufactuers or dealers.

Could you shed some light on this btw, I really don't know all the details of how it works. But I understand the lower they sell the car for, the less comission the sales person gets.

There is a backend rebate back to the sales person at the end of the month or year depending on how he/she get compensate. The C300 or C350 in Canada is 9 % markup not incl other backend rebate from manufacturer and will be great if you can get 4% of MSRP. That what I got ...4% of MSRP in Nov 2007 but then someone I knew got even better 5% of MSRP in Jan 2008.

Cloud9 03-02-2008 07:35 AM

My C300 MSRP was $36,175 and got it for $34,000 ($300 over invoice).

Also got my C300 4Matic under invoice :)

Picked her up the last day of Feb, so that probably helped.

MB_FTW 03-02-2008 09:57 AM

Picked mine up on 2/29:
C300 Lux 4matic
Barolo Red
Savannah/Cashmere MB Tex
P1
MM

MSRP: $41,635
Negotiated down $3,000 to $38,635 and the dealer threw in free All Season Floor Mats.

Final Price with Tax, Tags, and LoJack Antitheft System: $40,300 - Still Lower than MSRP:y

All of its paid, don't owe anyone anything!

benggolf 03-02-2008 03:37 PM

Any Vancoverites Paid Less than MSRP?

Just wondering if anyone living in the Greater Vancouver Area, B.C. got any "deal" buying a W204?

All I got is a $600 discount on the PDI/freight and all-weather mats thrown in. BTW, our C350 Sport is being built right now and we expect delivery end of April. It has been a long wait so far. :smash:
