Yes, it's pricey, but it's designed to integrate into the audio system to allow control via the audio and steering wheel controls. That's where the majority of the cost is.
You can call the dealer and see what the OEM box and upgrade would cost (I have no idea what that cost would be).
If you have an aux in (there should be one in the glove compartment) and don't mind mounting a sat receiver on the console, you can do it that way for a whole lot less.
There's a DIY here for moving the aux input out of the glovebox and relocating it (it's really easy).
That will also work for an IPod with a mount on the console.
The Benz is my wife's car, and she's dead set against anything mounted, she wants factory look and integration. And as we all know, if Momma's not happy, nobody's happy.
When I get home, I'll search and find that DIY and post the link here.

Thanks Alan. Very helpful. Picked the car up today. It's a beauty. Added the wheel and tire replacement package to the deal. Mama's damaged quite a few wheels over the years. Her car.

Bob, understand one thing. You can't add the MB Nav add-on system, AND add the CarTronics integrated XM add-on. I would love to do both, but you must choose one or the other to integrate with the car systems.

I understand. Wife wants XM over nav and does not care about my iPod library. If we need nav, I have an app on my iPhone that works pretty well.

Yep, the interior was a factor in trading in my 2007 335i for the C350. Very sharp. Love the steering wheel but taking a bit to get use to the flat bottom for those slow tight turns which require more than 90 degrees turn of the wheel.

I want a 2012 but likely will get a 2013 C250 w/ p1+push to start. White/black interior. 17 inch rims. I"m not sure what they sell for really. It's 38500 if you price on the website but I'm never going to pay MSRP. Im thinking 36k OTD w/ taxes and plates?

Also got wheel locks and rubber wheel floor mats.
16k Miles for 33k Canadian.
Considering how much we overpay for cars in Canada, I consider this a fantastic deal
