Leak

Well it was raining all day today and returned to the car after grabbing some food for lunch with the car parked outdoors for about an hour and return to find that there is a leak in the front windshield just to the right of the rearview mirror right where the window meets the car.

Only noticed it becuase it was wet enough drip, seemed fine for the rest of the ride home and not getting wetter with the wpiers running, a small part of the headliner was soaked already so hard to really tell, but there was no more drips.

Once I am home and able to inspect the outside there is no visual way to tell a leak would be present, the weather stripping is fine. But once I look inside there is a small plastic looking piece stuck right in the area of where the water was entering.

Almost looks like the protective wrap that would be on the panels at the factory had the window applied over it and it is not creating a seal.

I am off to the dealer on Monday morning for this issue.

Can't replicate!!!!!

Well, just picked up the car today and low and behold they can not replicate the leak! Now it is waiting until the window leaks again and hope they are open to physically show them the leak in the windshield when it rains.

I am pissed right now, especially after they stuck me with a B200 manual for the day!

Odd that they'd loan out a manual.

Hate to say it, but leaks can be very hard to replicate, and almost as hard to fix. Haven't seen many windshield leaks reported on TrueDelta's Car Reliability Survey, for any cars. Usually when there's a leak it involves the drain tubes for the sunroof. Could the source somehow be the sunroof, and it just shows up around the windshield? They might have doused the wrong area of the car when testing.

sometimes when i take off the car and close center screen compartment (no gps) which i always do... then lock the doors... i hear music playing in the car again...

i've waited for a good 5 min but it never turned off... i had to go back in the car and put the key in turn it on and then off again for the radio to turn off... :\

happened about 3 - 4 times already in a month of owning it... weird.

Sunroof???

They gave me a manual since I did not have a appointment and they had no other cars available, this was a 2007 B200, likely the bottom of the barrel for loaners at my dealership. They origianlly did not want to give me a car but I insisted that I would not park my car outside yesterday with it raining and snowing, so as crappy as the B200 was I was glad to have a car while mine stayed dry indoors.

After inspecting the window again yesterday it is interesting you mention drain tubes as the weather stripping on the windshield appears to be in very tightly and there is no visable area for leakage.

The size of the wet area is quite small and very localized, the entire headliner at the front was not wet just a small 1"x2" area right at the windshield, a size consitent perhaps with a tube???

Perhaps where the tube terminnates at the windshield is the problem? I would assume the tube runs on the inside of the car between the headliner and the roof so this could very likely be the issue. Does the tube terminate at the windshield or turn here and then drain down elsewhere??

This weekend when I wash the car I will soak the sunroof area for a period of time to see if this replicates the issue.

Thanks for the information on the tubes as a possible source.

The tubes would drain somewhere beneath the car. If there's a major problem with a drain tube, you'd see a lot more water. But maybe there's a very small leak in one?

This happened to me once or twice, best I could figure it was related to my phone hanging up. Hasn't happened in a while.

Hi all

I have bought my w204 2 weeks ago (W204, 2008, 220CDI Automat), everithing seems ok but for last 2 days weard problem, when I open or close front doors comand restarts itself, I mean middle console shuts down and in a second or two its restarts.

Engineering menu in MOST reads an error: Fault: Ring Brake, Pos O and external fan fault.

Called MB today and made apointment for wednsday, will keep you updated.

Rest seems just perfect, I realy enjoy the car.

Sorry, for my bad English, its not my native lenguage

The problem might be with the windscreen (windshield for us yanks)? I suppose it's possible. At least they're trying.

I'm getting Check Front Left Parking Lamp frequently but not all the time, though when i check the parking lamp (i assume its the eyelid lamp) it seems to be working fine. I'll take it to the dealer in a few weeks though if it persists and see what he says, personal friend of my parents.

You can easily pull the front of the headliner down a bit with just your fingernails and feel around for the water source if you think it's not leaking at the top of the glass. Or use a small mirror and a light.

Well 2 washes and a bit of rain and nothing has re-occured. The windows were fogged on the day the leak happened and perhaps it was condesation casuing the drip after I blasted it with the front defroster???? Doubtful but that is my only clue at this point

As for the headliner I am going to have to take it in to be adjusted, seems that the dealer while inspecting it puleld it down a bit and now from the outside you can see a small gap as opposed to the otehr side, will likely wait until first A service as it does not annoy me that much right now.

For what it's worth, most C204 owners participating in TrueDelta's Car Reliability Survey have yet to report a single problem, either. Judging from responses so far, about half of these cars will have no problems during their first year. This is about average.

7-speed

Well, I don't. And why should I?

The 7-speed has one maintenance advantage over the old 5-speed in that it has a drain plug on the torque converter which means when fluid change time comes (39K miles or thereabouts), you can get all the old fluid out. The five speed TQ cannot be drained (no drain plug) which is about half the total amount of fluid.

Not talking about that just the way it feels... doesn't inspire confidence... I noticed this when I picked up my car with 16 miles on the clock in January have like 1200miles now and it still feels weird to me... not like its faulty just like it could have been simpler... Then I have that delay when rushing and not stopping fully and shifting from D to R there is this awkward delay or no engagement at all... I can't explain it it just feels like something that will give trouble down the road... normally don't put more than 20k on my rides before selling anyway...

I felt this when I first drove an MB with this transmission a few years ago, and have felt similar sensations in other recently introduced 6+ speed automatics.

My suspicion: the electronic controls are far more complex, and the programming isn't yet where it needs to be. I don't think these issues are mechanical.

Reflashes are common with other 6+ speed transmissions. Don't think I've had many reported for the MB 7-speed. Does MB offer frequent software updates?

When I took delivery, alignment was out of spec. Within 5 days, I have the wheel aligned. However, the call still pull the the right. Subsequent visit to a different dealer (the original dealer wasn't too interested in fixing it), the steering wheel was re-adjusted. It took me a total of 4 visits in 2 weeks to fix it. Needless to say, I am not too impressed.
